In the last part of the THRS series, we had DeGroff's Cylinder Head Service build us a pair of street high-performance, 3800 Series II heads and we installed a Comp Cam and lifters.
In this part of the story, we're going to finish off the engine. Next, we're going to add some HD parts to the driveline appropriate for our modified engine's torque output and do some upgrades to the car's brakes. Finally, we'll go to the chassis dyno to validate...

Building The Tom Henry RS Part Two: Heads And Valvetrain
In the first part of this series, a Flowmaster exhaust, SLP 1.8:1 rockers and other, minor bolt-ons, gained us 17-hp at the wheels. Clearly, our V6 Camaro's response to mods is promising and there's potential in the 3800 Series II engine, so now, we're going to get more serious about performance enhancement.

Building The Tom Henry RS Part One: Easy Stuff First
Since Camaro's 1967 debut, a six-cylinder engine ('67-'79, I-6; '80-'02 and '10-up V6) has been either standard or for four years in the early-’80s when General Motors made the awful mistake of an inline-four for a base engine, a midlevel option.
For the Camaro's first ten years, V8s outsold sixes by a considerable margin, but in 1977, with our country in the throes of an agonizing gasoline shortage, V6s sold on par with V8s. From then on, until production temporarily ceased after... -

The idea behind the "Tom Henry RS" Project was to modify a Fourth Generation Camaro, Powered by the 3800 Series II V6, to the point that some of its performance characteristics approached those of the latest V6 Camaros.
Recent base-model Camaros come with GM's 3.6-liter, four-cam, direct-injected, "High-Feature V6" which puts out between 313 and 335- horsepower depending on the model year. Our project car build-up modified the...Last edited by LETZRIDE; 04-03-2020, 10:55 PM.

by LETZRIDEBuying used car parts is easier than you think. You can get great deals on used tools, but some parts wear out quickly and are hard to tell if they're still in good condition. Also, some of the used car parts you can find at a discount dealer are more expensive than new ones. In such cases, it's better to purchase a new one. If you're shopping for a part for your car, it's best to bring your tools.
