  • 1997 V6 Camaro: lots of mods

1997 Chevrolet Camaro, 165K on the body.

Bright Red paint in decent condition: hatch has some places where the clear coat has some off, front bumper has wrinkles/cracks in the paint (common for this car) and driver's side rear quarter has slight crease from being backed into. Has 3800 Decals, black nose emblem over lay, chrome 16" rims, upgraded headlights (Sylvania Silverstar Ultras), and blacked out tail lights, side markers, and blinkers.

Interior is in decent shape, has some wear for daily driving, but nothing bad. Driver's seat could use replacing (am I'm looking for one), but is fine the way it sits; has custom McNord gauge overlays ($120), red LEDs in the cluster and HVAC controls.

Transmission is in good shape; T5 manual 5 speed. Never had any problems with it. Clutch has 60K on it, and slave and master cylinders where replaced at the same time.

Motor is great, 3.8L V6. Has 80K on it, is from a 99 Camaro. Heads were cleaned up, intake manifolds ported, removed the balance shaft gear, newish timing chain (50K miles), aftermarket camshaft, and runs like a bat out hell. I always ran AmsOil 5W-30 synthetic and changed it every 5K. This motor runs strong and pulls hard; I put it on a dyno and it put down 235 horsepower and 232 torque at the wheels and still has some room to play with in terms of timing.

Suspension: Shocks/struts were replaced with OEM replacements last year and have a lifetime warranty. Alignment was also done last year, and tire wear is even. Lower control arm bushings have been swapped out for MOOG poly replacements. Front springs are MOOG OEM replacements and the rear springs are from a Z-28. Car is at factory ride height, but handles and corners nicely

Mods: Car has a full 3" exhaust coming from Pacesetter Shorty headers to a Hooker Aerochamber dual exit muffler. The intake is a Moroso LT1 style cold air intake, and it has a LSD rear end with 3.73 gears and a short throw shifter. I also have swapped out the drive shaft for a lightweight aluminum 1pc shaft. The car was tuned myself and checked with a wideband for an accurate air to fuel ratio. There's not much left you can do to this car, and I'm sure I'm missing a lot of mods.

I've also put a nice stereo setup in the car; I have Eclipse component speakers in the stock mounts in the doors, running off a Clarion APA4160 amp (roughly 60W each), and 2 12" Kicker CVRs running off a RF P325.1 amp (200W each). It's all being controlled by a JVC KD-AR418 head unit which has aux input, remote control, Pre-Amp outs, Satellite ready, and plays MP3/WMA/etc. I've burnt over 120 songs on a disk and it played it!

Just put on new rear brakes and will have the oil changed, this car is ready to drive right now! This Camaro should be a high 13 second street car in the 1/4 mile. You will not be disappointed at the power this tiny motor has!

This is a reliable, and fast V6 Camaro. I delivered pizzas in it! I've gotten 20MPG in the city and over 30 on the highway. It does need a new a/c compressor, but other than that, this car is ready for a new owner.

I'm asking $3000 obo as it sits. If you would like more pictures, information on all the mods/changes to this car, or have any other questions, e-mail me at radracer513@gmail.com

KBB is $2700 in good condition with 170K miles and $4000 for 80K miles in good condition in my area (zip code 32967). Not looking for any trades or low-ballers, but will entertain serious offers. I don't have any up-to-date pics but can get some if anyone's interested

Yeh, don't want to, but every little bit of cash will help right now with the baby. Plans are to get something else in a few years...Probably not V6 ;)

That's a good, thorough, well thought out ad. Should have no problem moving it locally via craigslist. If it was a black A4 RS, I'd be flying there already!

Thanks. It is listed, but nothing but spam so far :(. You know, that's nothing a trans swap and paint can't fix :P

Who ever buys it will be getting one hell of a deal.

I'm not in the market for another fbody, I want to do a kitcar next.
