I have for sale a used set of 3.42 ratio ring and pinion for the standard 7.5 GM 10 bolt rear end that most of us should have. It has 41 teeth on the ring and 12 teeth on the pinion making it a 3.42 ratio. I took them out to upgrade to 4.10s.
They are still in great shape. I would like to sell them for $125 shipped.
I need to sell them as I am trying to rebuild my trans.
SLP CAI, RK Sport headers, P&Ped heads and intake, GT2 cam, Upgraded valvetrain, Z28 rear axle with 4.10s Tx Spd tune, Z06 rims, 2.5\" exhaust to flowmaster, 160* thermo, B&M ripper, upgraded ignition, rockford fosgate 12\" with sony xplode amp and HU.
how hard is that to swap from 3.23? also that wont make posi right? im wondering only because if your unit is easier than swapping an entire rear end i may take em off your hands. my donor rear is 3.42 posi. just need to do the swap.
Correct that will not make posi. In short, you cannot do the gear swap yourself, you must have it done professionally because the gears need to have specific clearances. A shop will probably charge you $150 to swap the 3.42s in for you. But you dont have to do any work.
Swapping a rear end will take you the better part of 2 full days if you are by yourself. You will need to remove the old axle and then bleed the new brakes because the Z28 rear end has disk brakes. There is just a lot of time and sweat involved with the swap.
