    Re: See this, Amazing

Saw a 2002 Collectors Ed. Trans Am on ebay a week or so ago. 33k on the odo and he wanted 14k for it, and if you did the buy-it-now of 17k you also got a 26' enclosed trailer. The thing was C-L-E-A-N, and he was selling it because of a custody dispute so he didn't care about getting KBB. Oh man if I had the money I wouldn't have thought twice.

He says it will go for $45K to $50K dollars!!!!! His tel is 619-972-7073. I suggest you all tune in and call in your bids. Some of you think it is worth much less than that so, I suggest you put in your bid.
I was watching mecum classic car auction on TV about three months ago, and a 2002 Camaro SS with 700 miles sold for under $23k. Not 25 miles, but just for reference. $45-50k seems like a longshot..

the rich people doing this didn't get rich by storing cars for 8-10 years and flipping em. There is money to be made and you are right some times these mint cars can be worth a lot of money. However you're forgetting the costs of storing cars for all those years, the costs of auctioning them, shipping, listing fees, final value auctioneer fees, taxes from the sale, etc...

These guys aren't flipping cars to get rich, its mostly a hobby. I know people like this. They have a lot of money and order cars on impulse. Then they order another toy while waiting for delivery and another and another and another. So they end up with half a dozen cars they never drive in storage. They eventually sell em and get their money back + a few bucks on top to buy more toys.

I'd be surprised if they really got 45k for it, but i'm not going to rule it out. People often over bid at auction. For private/dealer sales i've seen similar cars with similar millage sold locally for ~25-30k in houston.
        +1

        I completely agree.

The demographics of the two different auctions means the prices will be different. Take a look at the crowd once when the camera pans.

I have a 2002 SOM 6spd convertible Firehawk w/ 5000 miles. Its #41. There is no way it would sell for 40-50 K (BTW I paid 40K new with GM discount). I can buy a firehawk off the street at any time for <20K right now any day of the week. maybe when I am 80 (another 41 years) I will get 50-60 out of it.

That car in the add isnt even original, For example, the loudmouth exhaust was NOT delivered on Firehawks. That was available through SLP as an aftermarket exhaust. Of course, I could have driven my car off the lot and around the corner to SLP and had it installed or I could have bought it off them and done it myself. The CAT back on my car is much quieter and IMHO nicer to be around than the loudmouth.

So, yes as far as ROI, savings bonds are a much better investment. They just dont look as cool. And you dont ever see hot chicks leaning on them for pics. LOL

PS. I worked in a machine shop when I bought it.

sheesh... I wish I could sell my 2002 convertible 35th anniversary edition with SLP for just 5K... I put it up and did not get one call. Granted it has 120K on it, but you would never know by looking at it.

I was offered 20k for my 30th anniversary a few years ago by a neighbour when it had 50k miles on it.... Considering it's a V6 that guy must have been crazy.

Car has too much sentimental value though, but I'll never get another offer like that!
