I did... It's the ultimate tb port job!

I wanted to straighten out the ducting as much as possible. So I cut the tb down for a straight shot, and smoothed the outside so the tubing would have a flat surface to mate up to.

It leaves the pcv passage (on the intake side) exposed to the outside, similar to what some people have done by drilling a hole from the outside to the pcv passage. It totally eliminates the pcv hole in the tb, so the boost pressure can't get into the pcv system. So I didn't have to drill holes or plug anything.

It ends up looking similar to an LS1 tb. In fact I was going to make an adapter plate to install an LS1 tb next.

Can it be clocked? I.e., can I rotate the compressor housing so that the outlet points about 180* from where you have it mounted now?

You can do this with turbos. I dunno about blowers.

Yes, I rotated it to point straight at the tb.

In the stock kit it points parallel to the ground.

John,
concerning '01 instal...
I would plan on replacing the pulley with 6psi, using your modified air box induction system, (if possible with straight tb...or maybe move airbox to the left...) not quite sure why I wouldn't be able to use the sensor that is in my stock airbox lid flex coupling, and hooking up the FMU to the 2001 shouldn't be a problem, right?
I can get the 6psi stock belt routing from the 95-97 install guide...would that use the same size belt you are supplyng? (if i get this kit i could allways use your modifications to bring it up to 10 psi...but plan on starting out at 6psi)

So, I am still looking into the blower pipe..thanks for the links for those. but, um, those don't seem to be quite what is needed. they look to be 'coiled'...not leaving a flush inner mounting surface when cut...??
You will know when I find a good blower tube source when you get my bid.

The sensor you're talking about is the IAT I believe. You would still use that sensor, just inserting it into the airstream somewhere. I had my IAT sensor in the lid.

Right, the fuel lines are the same, so that's no problem.

The belt I have with the kit is 103", and fits the modified routing only. The belt Perry sent me with the kit was 105". A stock size pulley might require another 1/2" to 1" of belt.

The modified routing didn't bump the psi, it just kept the belt from slipping. (and kept from having to make the belt super-tight, killing bearings in the other pulleys and stretching the belt too...) Even people running 5-6 psi tended to have slippage problems - using belt dressing, repeatedly tightening the "you-know-what" out of the belt, etc.

Good point on the flexible tubing. I haven't used any yet, so I don't know how well it seals or what it takes to get it to seal. I know I've seen kits with flexible tubing, but if they had a flat surface molded into the tubing, I couldn't say.

Good point about your WRAP. I understand it better now. didn't realize the larger blower pulleys had belt slippage problems as well.

I am thinking maybe using sections of radiator hose (3" diameter) and whatever parts of the metal/clamped/metal/rubber dishcharge tube you got going... (or left over 3"d discharge tubing you still have). Upper/lower radiator hose is pretty strong stuff. (straight and bent/formed sections to it as well) Common radiator cap is 13-15 psi...so the raditor hoses are beyond that. I think they may even be rated...on the hose. hmmmmmmmmmm.

Ok, um...did you say in earlier post that you still have the cone filter intake rig? That would be nice to have in the event of the straight TB becoming an issue with your cool airbox intake mod. (that would be the goal...but i'd feel better if I had a fall back plan.

The original setup came with a long section of 3 1/2" pipe. It came down from the blower, turned 90 degrees and went along the lower part of the radiator (under the fans), then turned back up after it got past the fans, then turned again toward the driver fender. When I got it, it came came with a K&N plastic elbow used on the LT1 cars, but that plastic elbow is gone now... The K&N went from the metal pipe back down into the fenderwell and had a cone filter on the end of it.

I cut one of the metal elbows off, to make the turn coming out of the lid. That could be joined back up with the remaining section I still have. You would have to figure out how to get it back over into the fenderwell...

The cone filter itself was smashed up in-transit, so I threw it away.

I've heard that diesel rigs use big hose like that... I never looked into it, but might be worth a shot.

Ok, we're in the home stretch now... Ends Sunday.

15 people are watching this thing. Somebody's got to bid on it to get it started.

I'd consider lowering the "buy it now" price a little, if somebody was interested in going that route and not getting into bidding for it. (if that is something I can change on the listing)

Just checked, there is an option to lower the "buy it now" price one time during the listing...

As long as it's before the last 12 hours.
