  • 3.42's, 98 P&P TB with upgraded sensor & Harlan Window Switches (2)

I've got these parts laying around since I've started college and unfortunately, I can't afford to drag race anymore (at least not now). My loss can be your gain...

    Here's what I have:

3.42 Motive Gears, used 10k Miles. Asking $100 + shipping (kinda heavy)

Port & Polished Throttle Body for a 1998 Chevy Camaro 3.8 V6 with a 1999 air flow sensor installed. Asking $90 shipped

I have 2 Harlan Window Switches that have never been used in my posession. For those of you that are running N2O kits with a govenor, these are a godsend in the arena of safety. I bought them new at $55 each, you can have them for $40 shipped individually or $75 for the 2 (brand new, I bought them, but never hooked them up) If you are unfamiliar with this particular model go here: Harlan Engineering Click on window switch to the left.

The intake manifolds, does independantly done and gasket matched mean that you did them yourself? Or did you take them somewhere?

Actually, they were done by Magnus, passed to Nachius (if I remember correctly) and then I picked them up.

What was done to the PCM to give a performance boost? is it a stock Y87 pcm, or is there actual custom programming done to it? I havent reprogrammed mine yet, so I may be interested pending a lil more info.

Oh yeah, maybe a dumb question, but just checking - I could just swap out my PCM for this correct with nothing fancy needing to be done?? (I have the same year, tranny, and gears)

What performance gains can you expect from the throttle body? Would you be willing to trade the nitrous kit for an Alpine In dash tv/dvd/mp3 player worth over $1000?

AlienInv8r - I'm not sure what was precisely done to the PCM to give it it's performance boost. It was reprogrammed prior to the availability of HPTuners. I do know that it was re-geared for 3.42's (not a Y-87 direct) and the fuel ratio's & shift points were modified to be more performance minded as opposed to the factory set "eco" mode. It's nothing extreme or neck breaking and is only a good addition if you have the numerically higher gears and would like your speedo to work properly without "jury rigging" with the other options. The PCM could be direct swap for ANY 1998 V6 Camaro with automatic transmission that has been upgraded to the 3.42 gears.

OreoLT1 - The throttle body by itself won't give you any noticeable gains. It has the benefit of being ported & polished meaning less resistance as air passes through it. The air flow sensor has also been swaped out for the better element that they used in the 1999 and newer models. This newer element allows your PCM to better interpret the incoming airflow and thus electronically adjust fuel ratio's & timing to serve the car. The trade for the alpine receiver is a possibility, hit me up with the model number and other info & I'll get back to you.
