Honestly i dotn know why you want to switch to X's...If your trying to hit a high SQ then i suppose an X may be better but both subs are clean. For SPL you wont gain any dB because both the X's and the R's require alot of air space to function to full potential...there's not enough room in our trunks or our back seats to make a box big enough to let to type X's "breathe"(they need about 2 cubic feet i believe). If I was you i would just concentrate on building a good designed box for your R's and save yourself the extra G. If your worried about SPL from the R's I hit 155.2 dB from the old style R's (not near as good as yours) using a MRD-1000 alpine amp. The X's arent worth it and if you're really going to get a super sub like the X as much ,as i hate to say it, for the same price get the MTX thunder 8000s

well i have to disagree. i have an alpine type x and it sounds great in my camaro. they dont need 2 cubic ft alpine recommends anywhere from .75-2.0 cubic feet.

umm...im going for spl, not sq, and theres a really good reason i want to switch...and it is....because i want them, thats my reason..soo, yep...anyone interested?

yeah but that 2.0 ft that they recommend is for high spl which is what he wants..and theres a big difference from running one and running two....just trying to help you out astroglyph...if you want i can delete these posts...but yoru stereo will probably be no louder or even quieter with X's vs R's(Xs are pimp though)

nah dude, i appreciate your help, i actually thought the 2.0cf' was for better sq, i have a sealed box with 1.5 cf' per side, i just wanted the shock factor of havin crazy subs, lol.
