I have a used set of 3.42 gears for sale. They have very low miles on them and I never even installed them on my car after I bought them!! These gears are in great shape and will work great for anyone looking for more speed! I believe that they are for a 3 series carrier!

if you want the gears, but you need a 3 series carrier, i have a spare open series 3 carrier in terrific condition - i will not highjack this thread though (email me jacksphone @ gmail.com ).

i have a 93 3.4 bird, would i need to get that tier 3 thing or what? (i don't know what that means) I'm looking to get 3.42 gears and im wondering if i have to get anything else to make them compatible to my car, and could i get a shop to install them for me? what do u think
These should work on your car. I have never heard of the tier 3 thing before. I would deff. take it to a shop to be installed, because there are a lot of very tiny details that shouls only be done by professionals! I have been quoted about $250, which is really a good price around here!

how do i know which carrier i have? how much would it cost to have a shop give me the correct carrier? and i heard something about having to reprogram the pcm when replacing gears, whats that about? thanx

ok, as far as a carrier goes, you can buy them new for about $400, or you can buy a used on on here or ebay for about $150-$200 thats what I did and it works fine. Other than that I am not to sure how to know which carrier you already have, but it is probly safe to say that you have a 2-series. As far as reprograming the PCM, your speedo will read 10% higher after the gear change, and a PCM retune will fix that for you. But if you have not had your PCM retuned anyway, you should, it was one of the first things I did and it really helped out the performance of the car! Thanks!
