    Re: a/c unit

now maybe you can help me since i dont know squat about air conditioning.

My compressor has a huge leak (says the ac specialist) so i already have a compressor on order. but people are also saying i should replace my orifice tube along with the compressor.

    Do you have that?

Also, what is the canister? excuse my ignorance

i don't know much about the ac tubing. but the canister is the metal canister right to the back right of the battery.

          Re: a/c unit

ok...ur ac system is under pressure all the time when you crack a line or you have a leak it relives pressure and allows water vapor into the system and that is bad that is why when you repalce ac compressor you need to replace the orifice tube and the dryier(removes the water vapor from the air) we have a 95 and a 97 camaro i hade to do the ac compressor on the 97 RS by the way it was a ***** which i did replace the dryer so i hope that answers your ? if any more let me know

                Re: a/c unit

lowered the price cause i don't feel like storing the items. the full price is the price of a rebuilt compressor. worth it to just get that and sell the other stuff yourself

Thanks! btw... this is what happened to my compressor... http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=80028
the stupid thing of it all is that I probably only use my A/C about once a week in the summer if that. I try to run it in the winter but it's hard to tell if it's kickin on...

did some homework and what i found is that the orifice tube is on the accumulator(canister) and when you change the tube you have to change the tube also. i do have it for sale still.
