  • BAD - Hypertech programmer III - parts only

I have a bad Hypertech Power Programmer III if anyone wants it. I bought it a couple of years ago, but the prick of a never unlocked it. I've tried contacting Hypertech, but that was a waste of time and emotion. Basically they told me to F off for not giving them all my money. I couldn't even pay them to reprogram it or replace it. It is basically an over priced paper weight is what they told me.

The only thing that might still be good on this unit is the cable or maybe the case. Let me know if you want it. Otherwise, it is going into the trash.

Let me start by saying I think the Hypertech PPIII is crap, unless all you want is to raise the speed/rev limiters and recalibrate the speedo. I tried one on my '02 3.8 - installed the program while the car was on a dyno - and it did nothing for power.

That said, I can't fault Hypertech for not unlocking your programmer; that is on the d!@khead who sold you the unit. When you buy the programmer you are paying for the software, for one vehicle, and if you don't remove the program from the original vehicle then you are in fact trying to install the software on two vehicles for the price of one. If they let everyone do that the sales of programmers would quickly dwindle to nothing.

I would contact the guy who sold it to you and tell him he needs to either un-install it on his car or return your money.
