I have an 81 Chevette that i dropped a 2.8v6 into. Currently it has a 700r4 bolted up behind it... The engine needs to be rebuilt and I'm having second thoughts on the automatic... I've decided to go stick shift with it... I have a couple of questions and a couple of needs and was wondering if anyone can help me out with any of them...
First question being... Is the drivesaft length different between the 700r4 and the t-5 in camaros/firebirds, or will i have to modify my driveshaft again?
Second question is (forgive me for this I've heard a few diffent stories concerning this)... If i have a bellhousing for a t-5 that was bolted to a 2.8/3.1 v6 would it bolt up to a t-5 that was behind say a 350?
And last.... Are the tranny mounts for the 700r4 and the t-5 in the same/close location?
Ok that being said... I'm looking for a good t-5, w/a bell that will bolt to a 2.8 ... clutch/throwout assembly...flywheel... and (pardon again i havent done a lot of research on how the clutch is disengaged) either the cable and mounts or the slave and master cylinders.
Is there anyone here that could help me get my little chevette rolling again for a reasonable price???
Any help, suggestions, or information would be greatly appreciated and used to its full extent...
Thanks for your time,
