• 96 M5 camaro throttle body

Looking for 96 TB for my M5 camaro. I think 95-98 will work but it must be a M5.

There is no difference between Throttle bodies. ANd yes 95-98 3.8 will work.

Are you sure they are the same, because there are different part numbers for the automatic and the manuals for the 95-98 years. I looked in the tech database and it has m5 as 24503387 and the a4 as 24503386.

Different part numbers doesn't always mean one part it is dfferent then a other. I really don't see how there could be a difference.

There is no difference. I bought a TB from a 1995 3.8L auto and bolted it on my 96 3.8L M5, and it worked fine. I don't know why the part numbers are different...?
I got no codes from the OBDII computer.

Some are different. Shane's 95 Auto is different than my 3.8 M5. This could possibly be because of the cruise control but they were definitely different. Had some troubles fitting the turbo piping thanks to it.

You people have no clue what you are talking about. There are indeed differences between throttle bodies for A4s or M5s.

It may or may not work, but do not say there's no difference.

If you like, I can send you a picture of the TB's side-by-side and you can see for yourself. There is no difference between the two that I have. I removed the tb from the 95 firebird myself, and installed it on my 96. I'm almost sure the firebird was an auto, but not 100% sure because I wasn't concerned about the interior when removing it. I got it from the guy in Bristol PA that always sells the posi rearends for awesome prices.

Please do. You can see the difference in that picture. There are 2 springs used on the M5's version, and the part that the cables attach to is much larger. This caused Shane's turbo kit to not fit Kevin's car, because he had an M5 instead of an A4 like Shane.

Got your pics, and I do see differences.

                          Referencing pic 46:

The throttle body on the left appears to be from an M5. There is a hole on the TB itself for the extra spring (as can be seen in the pic I provided earlier).

The lever that the cables connect to (on the left one) looks to be from an A4. It is smaller than the M5's and does not use that hole on the TB.

The TB on the right has the lever taken off. There is no hole on the TB for the extra spring, and there would be a difference in the lever had it been installed.

My guess is that picture was taken after you swapped the lever from the A4's TB (right) to the M5's (left).

                          How'd I do?

Edit: Please realize, I am not trying to be rude. Just pointing out that there are differences.

I pulled the lever off because it was somehow cut where the cable attaches. There wasn't a cable attached when I removed it, so the cable-plate is the difference. Ok, you got me then...good call!
