im looking for the little plastic retainer that holds the shift boot into the center consol if any one has one, or if they can tell me where to find one that would be great.

I tried to buy one at dealer and I had to buy the boot also. If you can't find it here I would try junk yards. Good luck!!

It was close to a hundred. I ended up getting a whole new center console off here for less than that shipped.

It was close to a hundred. I ended up getting a whole new center console off here for less than that shipped.

You can get the boot/clip from GMpartsdirect for somewhere around $30-$40.

well dam has anyone ever jerry rigged the boot onto the consol with out the retainer? cause i would really hate to spend 40 bucks on a boot /w retainer just to get a 3$ piece of plastic when i already have the boot

Mine's broken too, and I think it may be possible to bend a piece of coathanger to shape and use that as the ring. Maybe I'll give that a shot.

Do a search on LS1 tech...there is a guy that makes metal ones. The last one you will ever have to buy.

He will PM you back letting u know to take pics of the console...so go ahead and get started on that, he needs to know where to make his bends. Take pics from the top and both sides. He does not have a template for a 5-speed

the consoles from 5spds and 6spds are the same, he just asked me for my year and make didnt require and pictures
