      Re: front hub assembly

I've got a front hub assembly somewhere in the garage attic. I can't remember if it was for the driver side or passenger side. I didn't think it made a difference. Anyways, it was removed around 30K miles, but I can't remember why. I know that the car was pulling to one side, so we replaced the hub, brake lines, pads, and rebuilt the caliper. I don't remember if there was anything wrong with the hub. Having said that, I can sell it to ya pretty cheap since I can't gaurentee the condition. It's prolly fine. They're $130 new at Advance Auto, and about double at the dealer when I got mine. $35+ shipping sound ok?

Yeah, the wheel bearing is inside. but it's all one piece so it's called the front hub assembly. Side to side shouldn't matter. How much shipped to 97304? what kind of pull was it? something alignment couldn't fix? any wierd noises?

Could you do me a favor and check for any play in it as best you can?

          Re: front hub assembly

That sounds like what I've got. I didn't get a chance to look at it this weekend with everything goin on. The pull was very slight, which makes me think my car just needed an alignment at the time. To kinda explain the pull, think of it like this:
You're driving with your passenger side tires on the white line of your lane. If you let go of the wheel, at 65 mph, 5-10 seconds later you're driver side tire will be touching the white dahsed lines.

          65 mph = 95 ft/sec
          92 x 5 = 475 ft
          92 x 10 = 950 ft

So I guess about every 500-1000 feet the car was creeping up on the other lane. So about 1/8-1/4 mile. FWIW, my car still pulls to the left. I've had it aligned in that time. You gotta keep in mind that my car has been totaled and the frame was never pulled, so that's prolly it.

No noises from the bearing at the time. I'll check it this weekend when I get home, spin it and see if it has any noises or rough feeling to it.

well if there wasn't any wierd noises at the time and it was just a pull, I think i'll take the chance with that. How about $40 shipped?

              Re: front hub assembly

I'll check the shipping Friday. I remember it being kinda heavy so I won't make any promises until I can check that, and at least check out the hub again. I don't wanna send it if I find something wrong with it (visibly or audibly [if that's a word]). Will you be online Friday? I can get online pretty much any time then. Send me an email, and we'll figure something out as soon as I check it. I can actually look at it Thursday night, but it wont be able to ship till Friday at the soonest.

What is your zip code again?

I remember it being kinda heavy. I'll check it all out Thursday night, get a shipping qoute, and let you know something then. You can get back with me on Friday, and we'll figure the rest out.

Edit: Just checking shipping with an estimated weight. 5lbs is $10, 10lbs is $16. I'll weigh it when I get home.

                      Re: front hub assembly

Soon man, I still haven't made it home. I had to stay here last night because of stupid Financial Aid and FAFSA. FAFSA says they sent it to the school, the school says they never got anything. I was on the stupid website last night for about 3.5 hours, looking through EVERYTHING to make sure all my data is correct, and resubmit it. And I had an online chat with them about it all. Fun times, I'll be home soon though man, and I'll let you know first thing.

                        Re: front hub assembly

Ok man, time for an update. The part has a little surface rust flaking off it. I turned the part by hand, and couldn't hear any rough bearing sounds or anything, and I didn't feel any rough spots as I turned it.

The hub weighs out at 9 lbs in the box. It's pretty much ready to go, I just gotta tape it together better, the bottom is kinda flimsy right now.

Anyways, shipping is $15.21, so call it $15 even. I can drop it off tomorrow and it'll be on it's way. When I'm there, if it looks like I can stuff it into a flat rate box ($8.95) I will, and I'll send you a 5 dollar bill back with the hub assembly.

My PayPal is the same as my email address. Send me your shipping address and I'll get it to you ASAP. Lemme know if $35+$15shipping works for you.

Sounds reasonable enough, since we really don't know if it's gonna help or not.
