On my search for a Fiero I did run into some sellers who were selling their non-running Fiero GT for $500. One guy was willing to sell me his black one for $450 and it was running too, but loosey.
So you should be able to find one for 400-500 out there.

If you doing that.. keep an eye out for mccanda on the fiero boards. He's an old camaro guy that did that. He's on the west coast, but a good guy.FirebirdV6.com/CamaroV6.com Administrator

I would say have him save up as much as possible, look around on Ebay they pop up there qutie often.
The way I found mine was I drove around alot and came accross an impound lot and wam! that sucker was mine for 500bucks!.
