Ive read many reviews and looked through a few other forums, and talked with a buddy that works at circuit city and a friend that worked at best buy, and got a few opinions and picked the cobra xrs r96.

I like the capabilities it has, the way it mounts and the price is decent compared to others with the same capabilities. Plus a buddy has one, and its saved our ***, around 8 times total now.

So i like what i got, and i wouldnt down cobra, its a good radar.

^^What he said. My dad has owned 3 Cobras, and I have owned 2 of them. After my last one crapped out, I picked up a Beltronics Vector955 or something like that for $40 at a pawn shop. This detector has about 2x the range of my Cobras, and saved me numerous times. I don't speed badly unless I'm very late, so it doesn't get used alot, but it sure does help. The Bel has also outlasted all of my Cobras; I'd let them sit on my dashboard in the heat all day. The Cobras lasted me a yr or so; I've had the Bel for about 2 1/2 yrs and the only defect it has is the volume is now really low for some reason. I can still hear it, and everything else still works on it, just not as loud as it used to be.

the best is belltronics or escort, there is a really good beltronic at circiut city for under $200, it works great and is worth it.
