  • New Garage Build

The Amish guys finally got around to starting my new building.

Before Picture, showing my old 100+ year old barns.

Initially I wanted to remodel them and pour a concrete floor, but the Amish guys said the barns were maintained so poorly that they were structurally ruined. They actually had an unexpected collapse when they were dismantling them.

Demo of Barn #1, and the fire that kept going, and going...

    Sketch of the new building:

Picture of the guys 2.5 days into it (It's 1 degree today, and heavy snow yesterday).

    To be continued...

          More Progress:

Friends from OSHA stopped by yesterday and slapped some fines on my crew, and we're on outgoing truck #20 for loads of old concrete.

The metal is all up, and they should have the preliminary grade work on the inside done tomorrow.

The contractor hauled off over 50 loads of concrete and metal debris.

We run the water on Monday, and then we wait on the weather for the final grade, insulation, pex and concrete.

Finally making some progress now that the weather is above freezing:

The Amish guys made an appearance Tuesday, while I was on vacation. They managed to finalize the grade, add 2" of foam insulation under and beside the concrete, and 1400' of pex along with wire mesh. They did this in a day and a half.

Somehow they shorted me on two lines so the manifold will need to be moved down a foot.

Hopefully I can get the Electrician, Plumber and Insulation guys booked for April.

Today, finally finished the electrical and have some lights:

10x LED High Bay Lights at 14,000 Lumens each

                        First washed car tonight

I found a hillbilly HVAC guy that is going to hook up the boiler to the radiant heat lines tomorrow.

Closed cell insulation is scheduled for Monday - Wednesday. Hopefully by Friday I can start moving the cars in permanently.

I found a guy that will build a rustic outhouse style bathroom using some of the old wood from the barns, complete with a keg urinal. Should be cool.

Still need to hook up the septic, run water lines and gas lines.

Thanks - I requested the Amish dudes to leave me a pex-free area to bolt a new lift, but I'm not 100% sure how accurate they were with their measurements without pictures. The plan is to remetal and insulate my old pole barn, and do all of my dirty work out there. I need someone to buy my old lift so I can upgrade to a 20,000 lb.

If you go with stripes get them painted on. These factory SLP vinyl stripes are junk.
