I was thinking about it lastnight and this morning, I miss my old Monte Carlo, and everything that has to do with W-bodys. I planned on selling that Monte and buying a sexy GTP, but then I saw the fireturd on craigslist and couldn't turn it down., anyway I think once I get the old turd running I'll sell it and buy a GTP. Did anyone ever own a GTP? Were they trouble?
depends on the year, you can still find newer GTPs that havent been beat up yet. from what ive been told avoid 97's and i think 98's they had alot of tranny problems if i remember right.

Yeah the 97's had some kind of UIM problem, my nephew had 98 and he had the tranny rebuilt twice. Yeah Monte's arent the prettiest cars, but the one I had was freaking bullet proof. you couldn't kill that thing.
97 GTP's kinda got the short stick on options. They missed out on random items such as hood struts, integrated antenna, etc. If you're looking at getting one, try to get one of the 04+ models with the Gen V M90. Those are getting cheap enough nowadays that you can find a lower mileage one for a good price. Most of them started out as fleet vehicles anyway.
IMO, only Monte I'd own would be one of the '04-05 Supercharged SS models or the LS4 SS's they made before dropping production.

If times get tuff..... I'll take that buick off your hands. :D My first car my dad and I bought when I was 14 was a 1976 Grand Prix. I LOVED that car, we painted it in the garage (when i was 14 i thought it looked nice, but it was a horrible paint job) and had chrome reverse rims, re-did the interior in all cheetah fur lol. If anyone finds me one thats less than $1000 let me know.
