So I was talking to one of my neighbors who I really haven't talked to since we moved in here last Nov. He used to be a chevy mechanic for 13 years and said he still has a 5.7L with forged pistons a big @ss cam and everything is built for a big shot of nitrous, motor was in a chevell and just N/A dynoed 500-600 WRHP. It is a carbed engine and was in a wreck which totalled the car but he saved the engine. He sold the heads off it since being a family man with 2 kids now needed the money. But he said it has sat for so long he would redo the bearings and check out everything in the engine before selling it, in which I would buy a smaller cam and heads for him to install. He said the engine isn't going anywhere and I told him if I blow something up with mine with the turbo I might just go ahead and drop a V8 in mine, but we'll see how it goes. He said the cam was so huge with 13.1 compression and still ran 91 oct., it would still idle with the ign. turned off, he had a neg. cutoff switch. Also ran dual fuel pumps and was a low 10 sec. car in the 1/4 mile in the Chevell with street tires. I'm still thinking about it, might make him a offer on it.

Re: Maybe a Big 5.7L in my future
No funds for a roller, need a DD, so I'm looking at a 00' 5.3l GMC truck. I might look around on craigs list to see if someone has a $500 F-body, that's about all I could afford, I know there are some $1000 F-bodies I could get a hold of with full interior with 3.8's in them, 95-97 bodies.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Maybe a Big 5.7L in my future
He said it ran fine, he built it and hes from AZ so I would trust him , he said he had to retard the timing for the 91 octane so I could see it running in the summer, but most likely unless my cars engine explodes I won't be putting in a V8 , if I did it would be a 02' LS1 which I have already added to my HPtuners.:D08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Maybe a Big 5.7L in my future
I can tune , all- 97 3.8's, 02' LS1's, 00' GMC/Sivlerados 5.3's and 05' 3.8 Buick's. I used up my 4 Lic. so it wouldn't be $400 if I added them later if I didn't upgrade to the PRO version and I'm not locked into any vin #.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Maybe a Big 5.7L in my future
With modification, anything is possible.
Im sure it won't be a direct bolt in, but it will bad-arse in the end!
Give me a saw-zall, a welder, a big hammer, some duct tape, a case of beer and a place to crash and we'll git R done*Matt
Old people shouldnt use the internet.

Unless you haven't started the turbo installation I wouldn't put it in the current car.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
