Cash for Clunkers CARS is terrible! what is wrong with people?!
I don't blame Obama for them trading in certain types of cars, that is their decision, but who's decision was it to destroy them once they're traded in?

The owners (aka Car Dealers). That was the stipulation of getting the $4500 back from the Govt, destroy the cars. They could have resold the cars easily, and they had the option to doing so, but they did not get the $4500 from the Govt if they did. So its not like this is a difficult thing to think about. The car dealers had the option, and they took it. As rightful owners of the trade-in cars, thats the deal they took from the Govt.
And Im all for Corvettes and Camaro's and whatnot, but some of these cars they traded in where hunks of ****. $4500 for them was GENEROUS. And if they were such great cars to begin with, why did the individual that owned them trade it in for a newer car?

Mogobs... no matter how you slice it, cars that had value, no matter how much value you say they had... were destroyed. I agree that there were very few cars that were worth more than 4500 that were destroyed... but if a car worth $2,000 whether it was a Corolla or a Corvette was destroyed, it's dumb... and just because lots of people took advantage of it doesn't make it a good idea
How many of the vehicles that were purchased would still have been purchased without C4C... it's impossible to know, but one thing is for sure, any used vehicles that could have been sold to people who can't afford new cars are now just hunks of worthless metal...
And like I said, I don't blame people who traded in "nice" cars, it's a matter of opinion what makes a "nice" car... but even a ragged 1981 Corvette that barely runs and has mold growing in the seats is still worth more when traded in than it is now that it's engine is disabled and it's in line for the crusher... maybe it wasn't worth $4500 dollars but if it's worth $1,000 it's a waste of $1,000... and that's leaving out whether or not the $4500 was a "waste"...

This whole post would have made complete sense.....IF the steel wasn't being recycled, which unfortunately for your post, it is being recycled. Cars had their engines seized, then were crushed, then shredded for recycling. Lot of people don't know this, because the media barely said anything about the shredding and recycling. So in all actuality, the steel was being used.

Re: Cash for Clunkers CARS is terrible! what is wrong with people?!
Most C4C cars are worth more than their weight in steel...
Plus that has nothing to do with the used car market... Those cars ran, they could have been resold... and if they were, most would have been sold for much more than what they're worth as a hunk of twisted steel, it costs money to make that steel usable...
you don't HAVE to agree with everything the Dems want... if it's dumb, it's okay to say so...
Re: Cash for Clunkers CARS is terrible! what is wrong with people?!
I don't think it was dumb at all, GM, Ford, and Chrysler all seen jumps in productions during that time, and all three are starting to reopen shifts and take people back that were laid off. Sales were up in all three companies during that time, and although they haven't seen a rise since, its keeping with a flat sales rate, which means that sales aren't going down any since the C4C, and jobs are being saved or re-created due to it. Not to mention, two of those three companies have bailout money, and anything that can help them pay back those bailout loans is a good thing.

I disagree with the worth of C4C as far as using my taxes to pay for C4C, but I don't think giving $4500 for a trade-in is "dumb" I disagree with it, but it's a difference in what I think works vs what you think works... but how is destroying the cars that run and have value not dumb?

Re: Cash for Clunkers CARS is terrible! what is wrong with people?!
If it's sole purpose was to be a stimulus to the auto industry, then why did they have to destroy the cars once they were traded in??? It's because it wasn't done to be a stimulus, it was done as part of the bogus "green" movement...

Thats what I was looking for....YOUR taxes. Funny thing is, YOUR TAXES probably didn't cover for one car. And we're going to go thru this again, with you not reading my posts. I GAVE YOU REASONS AS TO WHY IT WAS HELPFUL. Read the damn post.
Its simple...those cars drank gas. And everyone is looking for the quick fix when it comes to anything environmental, and if it isn't the resolution that you want, you get pissy. There isn't some miracle fuel, or piece of machinery that is going to change this overnight. Its going to be done little by little. Accept it.

You're so deep in the democratic party you can't see straight. I'm not going to waste my time arguing common sense. I'm sure you're going to post something like, "See, the pissy little Glenn Beck watching, selfish, greedy, polluter doesn't have a response" and go ahead I don't really care what you have to say anymore bc you can't say it without being disrespectful and counter-productive... I will not accept something that is fundamentally wrong, and I'm sorry you can't go outside your party lines to do or say what's right
Saul Alinsky tactics are usually effective but are still shameful...

Wrong, right, disrespect, and counter-productive are all words used in certain contexts depicting a certain perspective. You not reading posts is a fact, because you managed to ask a question AFTER I already posted your own answer. Now the answer is a matter of perspective, my perspective, but its an answer nonetheless.
BTW, shame is also a matter of perspective. I have no shame, because Im similar to a cornered racoon. Shame is for the people who spin truths, shame is used by people with everything to control the people with nothing, shame is for the weak.
