  • Axle Devastation - Fixable?

Well the plan today was to try the bearing repair kit. Basically it moves the bearing to an unworn location on the axle. Dont think I have that choice anymore

Finger easily fits in the grove LOL

Yeah, all the e-brake stuff was toast!

I also have a couple Axles you could use. I've been askin $30.00 + shipping each, or $50.00 + shipping for both.

Sorry man, I meant to get back with you. You have two completely different axles. The disk shaped area are different sizes (where the studs are) and so are the studs (not talking about the thing mentioned before). I would also think different spacing as well. If Ive confused you; post another pic and Ill show you what Im talking about.

Yeah, I think I seen your post. But I need to know what year and if its 3 or 4 channel ABS and with or with out traction control.

Ill be heading to more JYards tomorrow though. So maybe I can find something (doubtful).

Well, I can tell you that they're from a 2001 Trans Am, with 3.42 gears on a Zexel Torsen Limited Slip Diff. The car did NOT have traction control. That's the most I can tell you about them, what more information do you need, and how can I find it for you?

The Jeeps ALT went out too. Luckily it was a quick fix. Too bad I still had Death Wobble happen at 75MPH on I95 yesterday.

if you got a timken seal it that may be your problem i have heard of alot of people having issues with them because they are thinner you need to go to the dealer and get an OEM one

                              Exactly.... http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums...ad.php?t=57912

I completely forgot about that thread :o

My first failure was due to a worn bearing and I used the Timken bearing and seal separately (the OEM style). Second failure was a axle, taht I dont believe Timken was at fault. This time I already had the Timken bearing/seal kit thinking Id fix my issue. That is until I seen how bad the axle was now.

So since I already had it and a new axle, I just went ahead and used it. BIG mistake apperently...

Wow Im getting to be a pro at pulling this thing apart...
