    Might be getting another vehicle

    I have been looking at trucks and found 2 that I'm interested in they are chevy silverados 2000 4 dr. trucks 1 is a 5.3 285hp/330 TQ with cng extra gas tank Black with gray interior 118,000 original owner with air bag leveling kit just did spark plugs, fuel filter, new battery, oil change. The other is a 6.0 300 hp/ 350 tq blue with gray interior 160,000 miles and alarm,stereo don't know how many owners. Both are power everything and tow package, both are $6500 range the 6.0 guy won't go down any in price and haven't heard from the 5.3 truck guy will call him tomorrow. I like the 5.3 truck better myself just becuase its the orginal owner and has the CNG kit for extra fuel mileage, I have Hptuners so which ever I pick it will be the one for my credit. So I think with some headers and exhaust, intake and some tuning I could up the Hp of the 5.3 to well over 300hp and tq of the 6.0. I just need to find out the rear end gear ratio of the 5.3. What do you guys think?

    My parents have bought a house about 2 hours out of town and I will be going up to visit and hauling stuff up there for them, and I can also finish my turbo project on my car and not worry about having something to drive for Dr. appts and medication pickups.

    You should probably go with the 5.3, the 6.0L is a workhorse, and a great motor but horrible on fuel mileage.

      and IMO when you put an exhuast on the 6.0 it doesnt sound that great, cackles pretty bad from all the ones ive heard.

      whats with the CNG though? does it run on gas and CNG or just CNG.... cuz I think that would be more of a P.I.T.A. then anything

        my girlfriends dad has a 4.8 and a 5.3 and loves them both the 5.3 is a pretty nice truck i would go for it over the 6.0 just because of mileage..

          CNG is just a 4ft X2ft tank in the bed of the truck up close by the rear window, there is just a controller where you can use gas, gas w/ cng or cng alone I think that how it goes, said about 19 MPH highway with no CNG so I think it could get pretty good gas mileage in the mids 20's would be great. Also I guess it is cheaper to register since it is eco-friendly.LOL How would headers and exhaust sound on a 5.3, since LS1's use their heads on their engines? I'm calling tomorrow and will call to get the money out of the bank and transfered to mine.

            I think I will go with the 5.3, I have Hptuners for it so I can mess with it alittle. Oh I forgot the guy replaced both CATS on it also. I just like that he the original owner , I think the came with a 3.42 posi when I researched them. I like 4 wheel drives but I would never need it where I go. Thanks guys.               I'm not a saint or anything but my Mom & Dad don't know it but once they get moved up to their retirement house outside the city. I will be giving them the truck for all they have done for me, since my mom drives a 95' S-10 4.3 extended cab and they are the original owners , so I thought having a bigger truck being up there with more room and power would be a nice gift to them. I'll just buy a 97 3.8 Camaro that hasn't been abused for $2000-3000 dollars. becuase my turboed car should be done and up $ running. I hope.LOL

                  when you test drive it, make sure you drive it long enough to get the trans good and hot, Ive seen it a few times and once with a good friend of mine, tranny functioned perfectly until it got hot and then slipped like a biiiiitch. So take er' for a good spin.

                  Check the oil and trans fluid and check the color / discoloration, check underneath the truck and make sure the trans isnt seaping oil from the tailhousing or pinion seal on the differential, and other obvious things like look at his driveway and make sure there isnt a bunch of oil spots.

                      I know one is PHX, and the cell maybe he just moved here, don't know, it should have a 4l80E tranny correct? I will have my Dad with me who worked for GM for 40 years with me so will check it out real good. Tail lights will be Altezzas...............J/K it will be stock for aalong time except maybe headers, 3" exhaust and decent intake on it. And whe I get it on the dyno to tune it.

                        my girlfriends dads 4.8 just turned 200,000k and the only thing ever replaced besides the fluids was one set of plugs and wires and one set of brakes and rotors and the tranny just bit the dust about 10k miles ago

                          Well since I have to move into my parents house until my brotheer gets his house I have to put the truck on hold, so I'm stuck with alittle over $7000 in cash right now. So it will probably be next year when I pick one up, no space in the driveway. I got a car cover with lock for my car and will be getting a alarm installed on it. Damm this sucks, I guess I can use my moms S-10 to pickup the L26 engine with 1200 miles on it for $450. I have to keep doing stuff to clear my mind. So another built motor will be bulit.
