i feel like if i contest the ticket, it would end up being my word against the cops word, in which case ill lose. whatever happens, id rather have probation than points on my license. i think you're less likely to receive probation if you plead innocent and lose than if you plead guilty with explanation.

all depends on how you argue it...the less credible you make the cop seem, the easier the win...you have to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt...so give them doubt...

Ask questions like when was the last time the officers speedo was calibrated? do they have the factory tires on the car, if not the speed sensor will be effected (slightly)...but play into it...

remember, if you go to court, it will most likely be 1 year before you get your trial (atleast over here) For us, if it is over 1 year, we can file a motion for not getting the right to a "speedy trial" and the ticket is tossed out.

To add on top of that...even if it doesnt get tossed out...1 year later, the cop is not going to remember what happened the same way you do...when you go into court, YOU know EXACTLY what happened, because it happened to you...the cop has pulled over THOUSANDS of people since he pulled you over...all he has to go by is the evidence he wrote down...

I personally will always take my chances and go to court...always

my best friend got pulled over for going supposedly 80 in a 55, with no radar used by the cop. The cop testified that he saw him from a distance on the hw and had to floor it up to almost 100mph to catch up......my friend was going 65. He argued it respectfully in court and was given just a warning

Most bike cops have a timer , they click it then at one point then click it again after another catch up to you and then they can calculate how fast you were going. Works pretty good, I got pulled over by highway patrol before I was a cop. Tried to beat it for 13 miles over the speed limilt. Saw me from about 300 yards at least , I was moving pretty good, I lost in court.LOL

I would fight it in court. They have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you were speeding. Most cops wont even show since it's that time of the year (bad weather and holidays). If they push it off, you can motion to have it thrown out, due to the right of a speedy trial. Like I said, they still make the money off court costs so they dont care

Mine showed since he had about 20 people that day, the just check their daays off and then put in the day as O.T so they make $45 hour. The patrol guy had a speech that said he checked his tire pressure V scan the timing device, its all pre written and he has his written inspection form with him for that day , only thing after his speech was to see if he would reduce the ticket from 13mph to 10 so it would just be zero points and a $38 fine but he looked over at me and said I don't reduce, I was in my AZ DOC unioform at the time also when he pulled me over but I was speeding along with another employee going at least 100 mph off the on ramp since it was clear. The other guy slowed down becuase he saw him and I didn't, just slowed down under the speed limit by like 30mph before he pulled up because I already knew. So I deservered it to be on my record for 3 years and $130 fine.They call it V scan or (something like that and here in AZ its legal for highway patrol.

^ he knew how to cover his ***...most dont...I mean, most guys will not calibrate there tire pressure on a daily basis...you can tell this officer had been burned quite a few times in court to be going through those measures...

ya they do make overtime here in ohio. Usually they wont bother u if ur respectful. I even had one cop tell my buddy to fight it in court and he wont show up. Needless to say, the cop didnt show but he ended up paying court costs still

Its just pre-printed for them and DPS-Highway Patrol will not lose a speeding ticket that often. Just like most reports these days they are all on programs, so you can just pull up a theft report or DUI and fill in most of it with no porblems, plus most cops use a tape recorder on them most always, so they can play it back for their report to quote you or to save their @ss from women from saying he was trying to pick me up. Most of the time its the small depts. that have dumb officers that don't know crap and are stpuid as hell seen a few in the academy who shoud of been thrown out but had realetives in other Depts. so they let things pass. I mean they looked stupid and acted stupid, oh well shows you why their are bad, stupid cops out there.

I guess it depends on the situation...most of the general public cant or wont come up with crap that can add variables to the situation. Personally for me I always try and look at things from every angle...I look at it from my perspective, their perspective, and any other perspective I can come up with...then I take what I can and use it against them...all my cases have been thrown out because the guy hasnt been there, but I know myself I have had some pretty damn lethal arguements to back me up if I were to go up to bat...

but maybe thats just me...I mean, after all, what I am going to school for does have us pick apart regulations piece by piece and apply them to what we do...I tend to approach things from a much more different view then most people sometimes...

WTH? Never heard of that. If you win here you dont pay anything. If you lose you still may not have to pay court costs. Possibly even get a lower fine or a pointless fine.

in illinois we dont do "points" and all we have to do is go to court house to get our license back and sign a paper and we get on court supervision. we dont have to sit before a judge or any of that stupid crap. we can have court supervision once a year and nothing goes on the record. we just pay the fine...whatever that amount may be. im not sure how it works though if u take em to court. i think you still have to pay court fines, but not the fine for the ticket. i just opt the way of court supervision because ive always been guilty for my 3 tickets haha. id rather insurance not get wind. tricky part was my speeding ticket (only one) at 17 yrs old...hiding that one from my mom haha. other two...one for lighting and one for tint
