Though I am saddened by this event and would like to express my condolence for the family. I also understand where ssms5411 is coming from. Agree with you as well.

Yep, all Police Officers are bad lets get rid of them and see what happens on the streets. So if a Pro Basketball player or any sport does something bad lets get rid of all the players. Police Officers make misakes too, just gets highlighted more in the news, don't see all the military people who screw up or fire fighters, police just makes more headlines, sells more paper. The Police are the ones who take their life at risk everyday for us and people want to put them down, F'them. They will be prosecuted the same and it is harder for them too, they have to be seperated from the other inmates, when I worked for Dept. of Corrections for 7.5 years, I saw about 5-10 in the computer out of 35,000 inmates in AZ in 02' ,est. 60,000 inmates as of 09'. But the ones who complain about cops the most are probably law breakers themselves or don't comprehend that its the person that did it not cops as in all. They never show how many lives police save or from getting hurt just the negative. Or the amount of injuries cops get on the job. Pisses me off, 90% are atleast good, better than half. I say lets ban all Pro sport players because they are all doing drugs and alot have been caught before, and they all do drugs. They get off all the time for crimes because of money they have.

I know it makes in the news but you have to admit that was wrong. Blasting through flashing red and yellow lights at 3x's the speed limit with no reason at all is bad.

Yes, there are far more good cops than bad. Just like people. There are far more good people than bad. Or else the cops would be busy all day long busting them.



Yeah, I'm for banning professional football players who are on steriods. :D

Watched the video and I'll be surprised if the cop ends up getting convicted of the charge according to the law... I completely agree that going 90 or whatever is ridiculous and he should be punished, but him speeding didn't cause the accident... the other driver failing to yield is what caused the accident... I don't know, it's hard for me to say, but I know here, you're almost always at fault if you're turning left in front of oncoming traffic and an accident occurs as a result... from the video, it looked like the other car didn't yield at all, and if they had slowed down they would have been able to judge their speed better and maybe wouldn't have turned... Common sense, though, tells me that if the cop had been going the speed limit, either the accident may not have happened at all, or even if it had, which there is no way to predict that it wouldn't have, the injuries wouldn't have been as severe...

but...

Every group is going to have dumbasses in them... cops, pro sports players, the military etc... just because one or a few do stupid things don't base your opinion of the whole on just them... bc remember, when cops do their jobs the way they're supposed to every single day, they don't make the news... it's only when someone screws up, like this one did that news is made...

and maybe this guy like nimrod said just had a bad day and made a bad choice... I'm not making excuses for him and I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished... I'm just saying that just bc this happened doesn't mean that he spent his entire career abusing his power, or that he's a "pig" and regardless, even if he is a "pig" and never really deserved a badge to begin with, he only represents himself, not every single other person who wears a badge... Most of my family is on the fire department and I've seen some cops do some pretty incredible things that allow EMT's to do their job, and then the EMTs get the praise in the newspaper for saving a shooting victim's life even though they may not have been able to even do their job if the police hadn't gotten there first...

I agree, I didnt post this article to ridicule the police force for one man's actions. Just wanted to show you guys the article; indeed everyone makes mistakes but this officer should have known better.

Indeed he is just like everyone else but to me if you are sworn to serve and protect then you are held a little more accountable for your actions and should have though things through more compared to an average joe.

Sometimes its hard to tell how fast an object is coming STRAIGHT towards you. Even harder when its dark and the object is a light. 19 years old, not a lot of experience with that. If The cop was obeying the law, I think they would have been safe. Cop would have seen them and had more time to slow down and go around if he needed.

yea, on second thought the cop probably will get convicted bc he was operating his vehicle "recklessly"... it's just like if I run a stop sign and a drunk driver hits me, the accident is automatically his fault even though I made a violation because if the driver had been sober he possibly would have been able to avoid the accident... just like if the cop hadn't been driving recklessly and that car turned in front of him he could have swerved or braked and avoided the car and then flipped his lights on and cited the driver...

we al make mistakes unfortunitally sometimes bad stuff happens as for this cop or no, you shouldent be doing 94 in the middle of a city which thats what it looked like to me. we all speed at some piont but theres a time and a place its never ok in the middle of a city no matter what time of the day. in my area one of my friends almost died cause a cop hit her at 120 as she was pulling out of her drive way on the way to school and his excuse was he had to use the bathroom... he walked and didnt even get to the court room now if i did that id be sitting in jail and never have my lisense ever again. so i have a sour taste but being 19 i know people automaticly think we are the ones at fault. im not putting all cops into a category but most of the cops i know are cocky and in the world we live in they can be. its a shame... hockeyman idk u but im sure you know what im talking about. im sorry for the kids tho thats some way to go killed by a cop doing the exactly thing they are supposed to enforce agaisnt

If police are held more accountable then others then why don't they get more praise for the good they do instead of the bad. Military are sworn to protect the Country and you don't see half as much about them then you do Police, its just what sells if people want to believe it them let them be. Cops off duty are the same as regular person, theres no 24 hour cops on duty. Police are only on duty in there city or town and when sheduled on duty. How about people post positive stuff about police since their held more accountable instead of the bad. Pro sport players get their scores posted when they win a game and thats coming back after doing time in jail for drugs or 150 over the speed limit, but they get their fines reduced becuase they have money. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have become a Police Officer, its not worth what a half of what a cable t.v installer makes.LOL Some depts. here only pay 30,000 a year starting the most starting is around 40-42,000 , not even worth it. Maybe I wouldn't of had so much stress and not of had my stroke so early. Who knows? People don't know how much crap and scum Poilce see. I like the tee shirts ( I fight what you fear). Most people in Police situations would piss their pants and run the other way. I'm not mad or anyhting at the OP he can post what he wants but their are 2 sides to every story most will come against the Police even before they start writing the story. I know there are bad Police out there I have meet about 10-15 but they all get the job done and make it safer for our city and the ones that deserve it like gang bangers, DV guys, and anyone that hurts a child get what they get. People have accidents in jails and prisons too.
