  • Do you guys wear gogles when you fix your cars

I don't, but I do wear glasses. My glasses saved my eyes 3 times now.

1st one was when a worn out shaft fell from its mount and landed on my glasses. It broke my frame and scratched the lenses, but my eyes were OK.

2nd one was when sparks flew from the flywheel because I was given an incorrect starter.

3rd one was when gas squirted out from the carb.

Now, I need to learn how to wear gloves in order to save my hands from being scratch and cut.

I don't wear gogles or gloves except when I weld, I probably should though I have gotten metal in my eyes before from useing the grinder and dremel. I have alot of scars on my hands and forearms from cuts and burns.

Depends on what I am doing. I usually wear safety glasses ecspecially when grinding. I have to wear safety glasses at work all day as being a machinist, so I pretty much have an unlimited supply of them for the home work.

Time to get some. You lose your sight, you NEVER get it back. Just like hearing, lose it and it's gone forever. I wear hearing protection most of the time at work and all the time in the garage when the air compressor, grinder, etc is running.

I wear goggles when Im doing anything that has dust, sand, rust, metal shavings, anything of that nature, and Im around it. Not wise to go without. But for gloves, its rare I wear them, and its not smart to wear them around power tools.

I wear em when I use either a metabo or grinder and obviously a welding helmet for welding. Otherwise my glasses block everything else I manually wrench on.

I wear safety glasses sometimes when I am under the car trying to get something off, and I have a bunch of crap falling in my eyes.

I remember last year, my first day at university was a disaster...my right eye was practically swollen shut because I got some crap from the car that fell in it and I guess got infected...walked around the first 2-3 days getting to know people, looking like a goof...

I'll wear gloves when I work on the car when it is hot...especially any work that has to be done around the headers...I hate it thought, can't feel the holes that you need as easily...hell, it's just hard to feel around in general...

                              My thoughts exactly.

I wear gloves if Im working on something hot (exhaust, turbo etc.) or if Im pulling an engine or tranny.
