  • Odometer Hits 300K

1996 3.8L 5 Speed, only mod I did was add the Vette Aluminum Driveshaft.
Gatorback Poly V Belt, Alt, Starter, Clutch, hoses & 4 tires last year.
Annual drain of manual transmission & rear end fluids.
This milestone moment was achieved late last night as I drove onto my driveway so I had to back out on the street and say hello to 300K!!!
    299.5K

Had to watch this smooth roll, guess it didn't click like the old cars of the seventies. 299.9K

        Re: Odometer Hits 300K

Thanks guys this morning I peeked under my radiator cap and saw milky traces of Dex-UnCool. I'd take pics of it but it's been hammered out on here by doing a Search if you look lol.
I have a new heater core, hoses, waterpump, radiator and the lower temp rated SLP Thermostat all on standby for a future install soon before winter hits here in the Northeast.

Recent pic is all I have. The V6 needs to be washed and detailed. The '02 SS and '88 Iroc Z28 have kept me busy...:excited:

                  Thanks
For me it was noticeably different for several reasons:

1- Less rotating mass from aluminum versus the heavy 2 piece steel means the engine will work with less effort and propel the Camaro quicker. Very easy install.

2- I saw an increase in fuel mileage. Averaged 450 miles per tank this past summer. Could've been the fuel blend too but a Seafoam treatment I did prior to changing to ES3 DiamondFire plugs and MSD wires helped too.

3- The Vette driveshaft made a clear difference in overall savings toward fuel consumption, engine efficiency. Headers and a decent catback are next.

Thanks Robert! I appreciate the compliment.

Treated with care and basic maintenance, these F-bodies will go a long way. Maybe a 300K Mile Club recognition avatar or something to signify this milestone could be in the works? Just an idea.

I take my hat off to you. Your Camaro still look amazing even with that kind of mileage. You should be a poster boy for Chevy.

Maybe a "Quarter Million Mile Club" ?

                        Who else meets that criteria?

Good job! So much for American cars not being able to go the distance. My 1995 V6 has 96,000 miles and my 2000 Formula just hit 120,000 miles...both are still going strong

Agreed! In the face of Cash For Clunkers, going 300K means I'm still motoring along other Hybrids and gas sippers. We are the ultimate recyclers by saving the V6's reputation by sharing ideas and mods to acheive the long life from these engines.

These 3.8L V6 engines are total workhorses I swear. Only other motor I'd compare them with would be the Mopar Slant Six for indestructibility. They just ran forever back then in my opinion. I'm 41 with a knowledge of great engines I had in my possession.

My V6 still pulls hard after each green light on my early morning commutes. I still continue to get stares from drivers peeking in their rear view mirrors in front of me thinking I'm stealthy cop with a sleek black car. Then they veer into the middle lane so I can fly past them in the fast lane with ease and command F-Body superiority. :D

A Quarter Million Mile Club would be a great idea since there are other forum members lurking with that kind of mileage. For me, I'd like to see a 300K acheivement under our forum names other than Track Member or Supporting Member. We just have to collaborate on this. :work:
