~ Thinking about getting a referb xBox 360 from GameStop ~
~ Thinking about getting a referb xBox 360 from GameStop ~
It'll be a gift for Christmas for me and the woman :D
Is there a certain range of serial/model numbers I should stay away from? Just kind of wondering because of all this RRoD stuff. Something of a Falcon chip, I dont know WTF Im talking about. Any tips?
On a side note; Ive had, and still have my original xBox for over six years and was a referb from GameStop

Mine is a refurb'd one from gamestop and I've had it for well over a year now. It even has a sticker on the back saying it's been refurb'd.
No issues at all. I play online for hours on-end and it works great.
I made sure I bought an extended warranty with it though...you know, just incase ;)
DONT. 9/10 of them DONT work, or do work for a couple weeks then crap out. Just buy a new one. It'll last longer and its a garanteed Jasper.
Strange... My brother got a new one and it lasted about 6 months, and Microsuck wouldnt replace it. Hes had his refurb for 3 years... I guess hes that one of ten. But dont see why I should get a new one if they all do it. Why pay more for the same POS?

I didnt know you could get anything longer than 30days, cool. How long is it and how much?

If you do get the RROD it's easy to fix. Thermal past and a few m5 screws. You can even install better fans or heatsinks in it while you have it apart. It's pretty easy.

I take it youve done this before?
Had to, one of my xbox's **** out way past it's warranty. The original white one I had lasted me like 4 years, that's the one I had to do it on. But my elite f'n **** out on me in like 2 years but they extended the warranty on those so I sent that one in.

Either way, they're easy to fix.
Cool. Never knew it was that easy. How long have they lasted after the fact?
