    Re: sooo

I felt down the first time I dropped off my first son to day care. He was well-cared for by very kind and loving folks, so I got used to it. But it was hard at first.

As far as the car, my 1987 Firebird got a lot less attention after my son was born. Soon after, I got a company car and the Firebird sat a lot less-used. Plus, my new baby son took up all my free time (I wanted it that way). My wife and I decided to sell it to get a little extra cash. I still regret that move. As my boys got older, I really missed having the fun car to drive around in. I got the 2000 Firebird about 4 1/2 years after my first son was born. That really made driving the boys around a whole lot of fun. Not a racing car, but a fun driver. My two sons like my 2000 Firebird and have grown up with it around. They are getting kind of nervous now because they know it is getting somewhat old for a daily driver (they want to have it around when they start driving).

I'll tell you one thing that really changed since we had kids:

My golf clubs have sat almost completely unused for the past 15 years. I have not played a single round of golf since my sons have been born. I've only been to the driving range like three times since the older one was born. I see no reason why I would want to go do that when I could be with the world's best wife and two great sons.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Why would you give up the game? Why not take them on the course with you? The greatest gift my father ever gave me was the love he had for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and over time, I have developed the same feelings for it, regardless if he was there or not. My father was there when I needed him, and he was involved in my interests, and he shared his interests with me. THAT is what makes a good parent, and a good family, not giving up your interests for your kids.

        Re: sooo

No 1-5 year old is the least bit interested in golf.

They want to play silly games on the family room floor or play hide and seek in the back yard.

I chose litle kid games and hide and seek with my little boys over golf. Now that they are older, we do loads of other things together.

Its not so much about doing things together, its showing your kids who you really are. At one point in your life your interest was golf, and it might still be, what Im saying is that maybe when they are older, you share that interest of yours with them. Me and my father are close because of things like that, and I know him in and out because of things like this. I never wanted him to be consumed in my interests, and not know what his really were. Thats no way to live for my father, and I feel privledged to know what his TRUE interests are, and I am grateful and happy that he shared his best interests with me.

I highly recommend you get this music. This music always makes my eyes watery, eventhough I don't have any children, still....
