  • I'm Giving Up.

On GM for good. After this last ordeal with my TBSS, I quit. I've put less than 1500 miles on my TBSS since I bought it 3 months ago. On average, I usually do about 4k miles a month. Tired of the ****ty service departments, the blame game, all the bs associated with ownership. I should have realized all this sooner! It's been 8 years since I had any decent service from a GM dealership, because the service manager was a relative. F 'em. Real hard, right up the tailpipe. I hope they go out of business.

Check out other service departments, there are some good ones, and some really bad ones.

I buy cars from one dealer, and go to another for service.

pssh, you will have that with any car manufacturer, its not just a GM thing. I dunno what car you are going too but you are going to have headaches then too. Nobody is perfect. Just depends on who you take it too.

Agreed. BMW and Mercedes dealerships are the ones to watch out for around here. Those guys are notorious for not getting the job done right the first time, and try to charge you to fix their mistakes.

I guess I got lucky with the local Pontiac dealership. The boyfriend worked there for a couple years and they always cut me deals on parts or work when I go up there, even though he doesn't work there anymore.

                Re: I'm Giving Up.

See, now I've had nothing but awesome experiances with BMW service for my 04 3 series. I've had more cars in a year than most people will have in a lifetime, so I'm probably at the dealers slightly more than the average consumer. Here's a copy of a post of mine regarding my 06 GTO

                1. Front Strut Leak
                2. Glove box door latch broke
                3. Paint chipped off door handle
                4. Auto door locks remain locked
                5. Blown out rear tire due to poor alignment
                6. Door retainer hinge pulled out of sheet metal
                7. Pulls left due to bad alignment
                8. Warped Rotors
                9. Mysterious dash rattle that no GM tech can EVER hear
                10. Glove box door misaligned
                11. Steering column moves enough during bumps to trigger wipers
                12. Shifter moves enough to pop into Neutral (A4 trans)
                13. A/C condenses plastic vents enough to pour water in cd player
                14. Front suspension bang after they fixed one strut
                15. Moldy smell from A/C Vents
                16. Engine tick (sewing machine noise)
                17. A pillar cover fell off
                18. Front speaker grill fell off
                19. Howling from rearend on deceleration
                20. Blown rear sub
                21. Instrument cluster goes nuts

I bought it brand new in April 07, it's been to the dealer 5 times. I just had a blow out last night at 9700 miles. What recourse do I have? Anyone have a contact at GM? This is completely unacceptable! Most times they give me the BS that they "Cannot Duplicate Customer's concern". I just spent an hour on the phone with Pontiac Customer Service and got NOWHERE.

All those problems were by Sept 07. Junk. The engine in my TBSS blew up 1 week after purchase. I had driven it to my house in WI twice, it had 360 miles since I had purchased it. It now has some f'd up whining on low load acceleration.

I really don't think any manufacturer could be worse at this point. Oh, wasn't offered any loaner for the TBSS, and they had that for 25 days, and shipped it to another state. So, F U GM, right in the A. Don't even get me started on the heap of **** '00 Vette I had that needed a trans at 28k miles.

I've done plenty of work myself. However, I have expectations when I drop 20-30k on a car with a WARRANTY.

are all part of preventative maintenance that is not any fault of the car company..

                      Re: I'm Giving Up.

5 Happened at 9700 miles. Really? It should come with enough camber to destroy the inside edge of the tire in under 10k miles? Even my Vette didn't do that.

5, 7, 8, 15, 19 were all from day 1 when I drove it off the lot with 22 miles. Preventative maintainence on a less than 6 month old car? Really. lol.

20 happened about 3 months into ownership.

GM just hates you...I remember your posts way back from when I first joined up...you've had problems with these things forever...didnt you try and swap a v8 into your 6 to and that sh*t the bed on you to?

I wouldnt of left the dealership without a loaner car if they were taking mine in for service...especially with it having a warranty... thats ridiculous...

Sorry to see all the issues you've had. I've got a 2000 Corvette with 80,000 miles on it with no issues other than the column-lock problem that plagues C5s. However, that was fixed at no cost to me at all. In fact, the only time it acted up was when I was looking at buying it. It's been a solid performer ever since.

cant blame ya tom. ive been saying the same thing for years but its only been recently that i really started to hate GM cars and all the finicky/junky bs with a total passion.

btw, 5 seems to be a typical problem from what ive been told by other gto owners.

Suprisingly, my 00 V6 was pretty solid aside from a casting flaw in the trans case that cracked at 9k miles. The engine blew up due to a shotty mechanic not torquing the lower intake manifold bolts down enough.

I could type for hours about all the **** I had to deal with from GM cars. Also had to pay cash to put a trans in my 04 Silverado in 09. Hate is not a strong enough word.
