well since i had my son, i knew it was time for a larger beater for me...for those of you who dont know i have my camaro who is my garg. queen, my cobalt ss/sc was my beater, hubby has a mustang gt for his garg queen and a wrx for his beater. so we traded in the wrx, shauns taking my ss/sc and i got a 09 chevy malibu. it's a very nice car. we didn't plan on getting one today...or any time soon, but the chips fell on my side lol. i'm gonna miss my ss/sc and her 38 mpg. radio controls on the wheel and auto tint rear view mirror and the fact that this one is an auto :(
I see those damned things everywhere. I see at least four a week with some old person cutting me off and going 10MPH in it (thats nothing towards you kristen lol)... Still I say its better than a mini van.
it's the soccer, baseball, hockey, football, basketball mom car.
it's so weird driving this car...when i look in the rear view...i feel like the rear window is a million miles a way hah
I know what you mean with that... I remember when I was sick and the clutch died on the camaro, I drove a quad cab ram for a month, I hopped curbs like a mofo not being used to having like 10 feet of truck behind me.
Nice cars... what engine/tranny combo you get? Ecotec/6spd?
just a 4 banger ecotec. nothing is gonna come close to the 38 mpg i was getting the ss/sc
You might be surprised, couple of us on cz28.com have Malibus, saturn Auras, and Pontiac G6s. All similar.
On road trips going 70-75, I get 30-32 mpg with my 3.5L v6/A4. My best "hypermiling" from Orlando---->Daytona I got 36mpg. City I get 23-24. But like I said its the v6.
Guy with antoher G6 hits low 30s with a same v6 as me.
Guy with the Aura has broken 40mpg on the highway with a ecotec/6pd.
Obviously we baby it a little, set cruise control, shut cruise control down and coast to stops(if no one is behind you, etc...)
I did the same... Wife and I moved to Daytona, but I didn't start school for a couple months. I was just going to get a crap job in daytona, then my work offered to pay me mileage to keep driving back to Orlando. So I did, I would work 3-4 day weeks, doubles and sleep in our old place on an air matress(owned by the inlaws they were trying to sell it)
Either way ~80 miles one way all highway. Cruising 70, ~3-4 carlengths behind a semi worked great. But I had a bra, wouldn't do it without a bra.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
