  • Whoops... I may have inadvertantly helped destroy a Ls1 Trans Am...

Working on uploading the pic. Facebook app on my phone is being a *****...

Either way was leaving school today, coming up on a side road that runs behind a shopping plaza, has a nice sweeping curve going into it. I went through it kind of quickly, just to liven and wake myself up after 3 hours of talking about propellars.

All of a sudden I see a Ls1 trans am flying up my butt and coming fast from the turn(I have seen the car on campus(NBM trans am with silver WS6 hood)

I am turning left and take it a little quick, not really wanting to get side by side on the same road as this guy, as it merges down to 1 lane, and its obvious being an ls1 trans am it out handles, out accelerates and out brakes my car.

I see at the same turn, he was turning right, I make my turn look in my rearview, see him fish tail wildly out, loose the tail, get the car pointed waaaaay right, get traction, fly off the road hit the grass, cross a sidewalk and straight into a concrete block wall. He hit HARD, I was expecting him to maybe glance it, destroy the nose/fender, but not major damage. He hit it straight on and looks like he went through some, but climbed up others, nose in the air. Wouldn't be surprised if it set the airbags off.

I turned back around to make sure he was ok, he had the hood up and was outside the car. And of course snapped a quick shot. I didn't want to sit and take a bunch of pics, sure he was already a little pissed.

Felt bad, another Trans Am off the road at least temporarily, maybe totaled if it did severe damage.

I mean most of us have done similar. I can vouch I probably did a 100% identical move in my 94 Camaro, same trajectory only diggerence being instead of a little concrete block wall I hit a flower bed and hedge.

At least his Ok, but he is sure stupid for trying to show off if he doesn't know how to drive a fast car.

I once accidentally contributed to the wreck of a V6 camaro driven by an asshat. Pretty much the same routine; kid tried to show off and ended up going over the curb. Fortunately he was alright and the car just needed a little TLC to be fixed.

That Trans Am on the other hand... well, kid should've learned to handle the car.

          Ouch!

I've lost control of my car going into 2nd gear already a while back and had to shop it. Turned out I broke the engine cradle and the lower control arm.

          Can't say that I've learned my lesson;
I "almost" did it again last year when racing 3 imports that tried showing off their hopped-up 4 cylinders :slap:

Exactly. I hate it when people show off in front of me and next to me. Trying to egg me to race them. I just ignore them.

Thing that gets me about it...

He was in an Ls1 car. While I am in a stock G6. What did he have to prove?

He beats me in every category but two... Having 4 doors, and fuel mileage. If he drove super careful and was a 6-speed, might be able to get close to me anyways.

maybe he wasnt trying to show off to you...maybe he was just having fun and you happened to be there at that time.

I mean, I've decided to have fun in my car around the same time some other younger kids pull up, or are around in there cars...not that I planed it that way...I just said that when the road frees up a little and past w.e. light or through that parking lot, I'm going to do this, or that, or I do something stupid like give'r some gas around a corner sometimes just because I get a sudden urge, then I'll look over and see some young guys in a civic in the area. I usually think, oh well...I didnt do it because they were there...I just intended to do w.e. I did at that time...if you catch my drift at all...
