And as an E2 its still not a ton of money. Save the $2k for a later date, best to not start working on the car till you have $10k or more saved up for emergencies.

Sucks to say that, and Im sure you think Im pissing on your parade, but its probably best.

everyone says save it, but i dont have a dependable car...so i want to fix my firebird, and make it better ie: rebuild the tranny and the rear end, so it will last. and upgrade some goodies.

thats why the economy sucks anyways, people are apprehensive to spend. plus saving it does me no good, if i was going to do anything it would be put it in the market, a low risk mutual fund, or something like that.

                I concur.

Maybe save most of it and then spend some on one special project / item (if I could do this it would be an electric cutout, I think those are cool). Then save the rest.

                Just my $0.02.

                        1. Buy the K & N FIPK.

                        2. Fix the engine as you mentioned.

                        3. Then once you know it is running right decide on your next mods.

Don't you love it what the subject is how to spend and people say save. Kinda like when I asked for the best way to make a bolt on exhaust and the first response was "just weld it all together." Don't get me wrong though... nothing wrong with saving.

yeah, i know what im doing financially, i really dont need help there. I have never had money problems, im 20 years old with better credit than most people in general. My grandma who raised me was an accountant, so i learned from her how to do things. Plus saving money is pointless. I would rather put it in the market and let it work for me than draw a mere 2% quarterly interest at best.

You live at home don't you?? And credit tends to be higher when you're younger and have little debt. BTW, my retirement funds through my union lost me $2k last year in a ultra-low risk annuity. I still have about $14k in there now, but I seen people with the same fund lose well over $10k themselves, but at the same time, I switched it from an ultra-low risk annuity to a high risk last quarter, so we'll see how that pays off.
