A picture of the outside would have been just fine. I wouldn't want to display all those stains, seat covers, lack of rubber on the clutch pedal and that sweet air freshener.

I honestly wouldnt want to drive, hell.... even ride in that car.

Im sure if you detailed the crap out of it, and steam cleaned the interior for like 36 hrs it would come clean-ish eventually, but yea. . . pretty gross!

          Re: New car

why does everyone bash? i really dont understand people on here anymore. The apparent savings in gas alone may well offset most of the cost for buying the 2nd vehicle, along with the possibility of cheaper insurace, cheaper costs to fix the car, and increased longevity of this particular type of vehicle.

You also have to think that this will give them a 2nd car to haul the little critter in just in case the other car breaks down. There are Pros and Cons with every decision, but in this praticular case, whether or not you keep the camaro, I think uying hte 2nd car may have been a good idea for the right price.

If you want a good example of a cost savings in gas alone, the normal person drives 15k a year (I drive about 5k more miles than this on average).
My truck gets an average of 8.2 mpg and my mustang gets 21.9 mpg
If you take 15k and divide it by 8, then multiply by 3 (little over the national average in fuel prices, but easy number to work with), you get $5625. Take 15k and divide it by 22, then multiply it by 3, you get $2045.
5625 - 2045 = $3580 annual savings just from gas alone, not to mention the lack of maintenance costs. That's almsot a cost savings of $300 per month, and that's not even including my average driving. My annual savings is $4800, which covers more than my car payment and the additional cost for my insurance

            Re: New car

Find me a car of similar year that gets as good of gas mileage as a 3.8l. Most cars are comparable, even with city driving. You're comparing a truck and a car, with which the truck might get a little over a 1/3 of the mileage of the car. Im sure the savings when comparing the 3.8l to the new car he just bought is going to be comparable, along with the repair costs that are associated with a car that is 6 years older than the one he has now. The only thing that is going to be cheaper is the insurance and the tags/plates (depending on the state). So your logic, motorhead, is rational, but not practical in this instance.

Tags in Florida suck ***. They just about quadrupled them from last year they were high 30's to now more than 125.

Was going to put my rant about politicians and their escalating taxes but given who posted before me I'll save it.

I was jsut using it as a basis for comparison. As my deal was a little better, I also gain value in my particular instance, which adds more value to my particular situation.

We should be supportive of his decisions in his situation, and try to help him as he will grow, not bash him for what some may consider a mistake. lets help him to make better decisions to make his life more enjoyable in the future

This is a community, just like a regular group of friends. When I do something dumb, all of my friends point it out. We aren't telling this guy to remove himself from the gene pool or anything, we're just pointing out decisions that we wouldn't have made. It is perfectly normal discourse.

I was fine with page one, was actually kinda funny, but when 4 people chime in about the same defects with the car, it's kinda like beating a dead horse.

Yeah, not just tags... Try everything DMV related...

I was able to renew both my tags the very last day the switch happened

I still think the car looks fine, actually quite nice. Getting a second car is fine. Selling Camaro NO! Sell the bikes if you need money that bad...

I completely agree. Highway economy driving I got a max of 35mpg.

Typical in city driving I got 25-27mpg

He didnt buy the car for better fuel mileage anyway, and if he did, HA.

                                Re: New car

This is what Im looking at right now....

Im looking at a person who messed up, and got his GF pregnant. Now, this isn't my problem, I pull out in time if need be. Now I congratulate him, I wish him all the best in that venture.

Now with what I am seeing here, the problem he was having was that he couldnt afford to keep and use the Camaro when the baby came, probably because of the common myths of impracticality, and the admittance of knowing he can't keep his foot off the gas. Personally, if I wanted a thrill THAT bad to where I would mash the gas with my kid in it, I would try to find another hobby that didn't involve my childs life as well as the lives of other people on the road. I honestly don't see the difference in your judgment between owning the Camaro or some ****ty Accord; if you want to mash gas, you're going to do it regardless what car you're in.

My second point comes to this. Again, going back to the myth the car is impractical, and you can't trust yourself (Im still laughing at the trusting yourself part), if at the very least, why would you buy a car that was 6 years OLDER than the one you have now, spend more money you DIDN'T have, just to sell a car that you have already invested time and money into? I don't see the logic in this at all. Not to mention, that car is absolutely filthy. I would never put my son or daughter in the thing without thoroughly cleaning that thing out with gas and fire. Its disgusting on the inside, makes me want to ralph on my computer screen.

Best thing you can do right now is sell that POS Honda, dirt and all, and focus on getting the Camaro paid off. Children are not cheap, but neither is reinvesting in a car that is almost 20 damn years old. But if you're insistent on getting a 4 door sedan, sell BOTH cars right now, and put that money down on something that didn't see the first Bush administration. Im not bashing you for thinking about your future and child, Im bashing you for buying a dirty, rundown, flat tire, POS Honda with **** stuck to the interior. BTW, how many miles are on it?
