  • Need a bit of help from some of my favorite forum people :)

Hey guys, so I am taking a reporting and writing class at collegel. Im supposed to interview three random people I dont know, (you guys arent complete strangers but still haha) and write a small report. I always get a kick out of you all on the forum when it comes to politics, so Im hoping a few of you could help me out.
Heres the responses i need: (they dont have to be extremely long, but enough that you think gets your point about and something i can write on)

Would the nation be better off now if John McCain and Sarah Palin had won the 2008 presidential election? Why?

    Your name, age, and occupation

I helped a few of you out with the calendars, so maybe someone can return the favor? this would really help me out as I would rather not walk around chicago asking random people on the street.

If you dont want to write it on the thread, PM me.

Thanks alot guys, i appreciate it

My answer to this would be "NO"... the nation wouldn't be better off with McCain/Palin for several of reasons:

    1. We are facing a global recession...NOT a nationwide recession.

    2. He would have done what Obama has done which was to bail out banks and big businesses.

    3. He really didn't have a solid plan on healthcare. This is the nation's #1 problem right now in my opinion and it's going to continue to escalate unless there's a real solution on fixing it from within and not from the outside. If this is not fixed now, now that the baby boomers are retiring and getting old, then this will be the downfall to our nation's economy.

    4. We would still be at war with the muslim extremists. (Which btw I do support)

    5. Weak immigration reform and or policy. McCain waffled a lot on this, even siding with the late Sen. Kennedy.

    6. He never talked about reducing the size of Government which increased during Clinton and Bush's presidency.

    7. McCain never had a solid plan on job creation. He would have sided with Obama on this stimulus package(s) we've gotten, which we now know doesn't work.

    8. He talked about keeping Pres. Bush's tax cut, which is a good thing, but he didn't talk about budgets and cuts from within.

    9. McCain has a history of listening lobbyist and forwarding their agenda.

    10. McCain is not a true conservative, I find him to be more of a moderate like Gov. Arnold here in Calif., but I know Palin is. I know she disagree with him on many issues, but she couldn't express herself because of her partnership with him, plus the way the liberal medias have portray and demonized her and her family.

    11. He would've sided with the environmental extremist too, which would further hurt our economy.

      I would say no...

The reason I think we are better off as a country with Obama as our president as compared to McCain, is that the American people are awake now. I don't believe that McCain's policies would have been any more effective or beneficial to the country than Obama's, but the turf war and "partisan" politics have gotten out of control and having a very liberal president to go along with a very liberal house and senate have demonstrated what partisanship does to a country. If McCain was in office and had done everything exactly the same as Obama (which I don't believe he would have), the trend of partisan accusations from both sides of the aisle would have continued, but people would've been more likely to go along...

I think that it is inspiring and gives me and many others real hope for the future that we are waking up to the corruption that has been on full display during the Obama administration's short but busy life so far. The bribes, the lying, the cheating and stealing that goes on in Washington have been brought to light from both sides.

The bi-partisan opposition to Cap and Trade and Obama/Pelosi-care is an example of the voice starting to shift back to the people, which was lacking in congress during the Bush administration. And, I believe, would still be lacking had McCain been elected...

It's always darkest before the dawn, and I believe that after the second Bush term, Republicans figured out that they can't continue to be as partisan, and I think that after only one year of Obama's term, some democrats have learned the same thing...

To sum up, corruption has become more visible to the American people because of Obama's style of politics, and the American people are taking their country back...

because remember The U.S.A. is NOT a democracy, it is a republic with democratic representation... and we are finally starting to treat it as such...
