Survey on Gasoline and the Future

This is for a research paper. I'm just looking for your opinions on the following questions and the ultimate question in the poll. These are all what you THINK, so don't worry if you have no background info. Comments and discussions are fine, but I'd just ask that you answer the questions first.

1. Poll question:: How long do you think gasoline will be the primary means of fuel for the automotive industry?

2. Are hybrid vehicles (Gas/Electric specifically) leading us into the future (i.e. will most if not all autos transition through hybrid to the next fuel), or simply buying time to introduce the next main fuel? [In other words, are hybrids important to the long-term development of automotive power-trains?]

3. What will the next main power source be? (some current examples of fully or partially viable sources are compressed air, electricity via batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, ethanol, etc.)
   -
4. [For grouping purposes] What is your vehicle bias: Foreign, Domestic, or Unbiased.

3. The wrong one. Hydrogen fuelcell is the only way to go. Anything else is pointless. But everone is backing those instead.

1. Yes, I think so, I think that at the very least they will lead to innovations for using a different means of fuel in the future. I think that hybrids are the beginning of the transition, they are getting the companies thinking of a new/more efficient ways of propelling vehicles.

2. Hybrid is leading to the future but won't be it, something else will come along.

3. I don't think a solid contender to replace fossil fuels has been proven and maybe not even discovered yet. There's options but not viable or cost effective.

I checked more than 15 years, they just don't have the right stuff right now to change all the cars on the road unless it was something the Gov. gave to everyone who owned a car to clean the air then have inspections on the cars to make sure the have the devices for clean air, but theres other stuff that needs to be taken care of besides cars.

2. not even close, if anything theyre setting us back long term.
3. ethanol- no need to rely on other countries to supply it, just about any car can be converted to run on it

1. till oil is in very short supply and wedont have a choice but to change

A quick glimpse at HFC. Still trying to find the vid that shows how we can add it to our infrastructure. Basically all you need is the machine itself (about the size of a stand-up freezer), a water source and an electric source... And it goes on to say if you can make the electric source nuc, then its almost 100% free of any pollution. Not to mention you could basically have a fuel station in your garage :D

Bib? ethanol? Are you serious?
