yea i pretty much know i need heads and intake. Probably vortec heads and intake. It'd be nice to find a decent used set of heads on the cheap side. New intake and a cam and it would be a reasonably priced build and a lot of power

the 305 is not the same, it is a small bore long stroke engine, it will give you good torque, but no horsepower, especially in the higher rpms, the redline of the block is probably in the neighborhood of 5500

i know you want to stick with what you have, but let me tell you, its cheaper in the long run to build a 350 block

and i would stay far away from the stroker kit you posted, you dont want hyper. pistons and a cast crank unless you plan on making less than 350hp and using high octane fuel so you dont get any knock,

if you want to build it up, go for it, but i would not beat on that engine, because its not going to last very long

edit* if you have any SBC questions send me a pm, or post them in your thread, i know the sbc's inside and out
