    Re: 2010 Olympics

I can't wait for the Canada vs Russia game... Sid vs Malkin and Sid vs Olvechkin... gunna be interesting... I still can't believe the U.S. has done so well this far... I hope that Canada does well too, though... I haven't looked at the bracketing yet... could the U.S. play Canada in the finals, or would they meet before that point? If so I'd like to see that as a final with U.S. taking Gold and Canada with a Silver...

Im not a fan of crosby...I was coaching my juvenile team when the game against Germany was on, so I missed it...but I heard about Nash getting a penalty shot and they had crosby take it, and it was already 4-0 Canada...I was livid ...I hate these coaches that suck his d*ck like that...He's a good player sure, but he is wayyy overrated. We have sooo much talent on this team to draw from, we do not need to rely on Crosby for crap like that. If this was pitsburgh it would be a different story, you only have soo much talent per team, but in the olympics we have 4 lines full of guys who are more then able to get that job done.

I woulda pulled him after the 4th goal, he just didnt have it tonight....That stung them though, Bryzgalov played solid, and I think it would of been a 4-3 or 5-3 game if they had of pulled him earlier...and that coulda changed things because Russia would of went that much harder to tie it up in the final minutes...but I mean, they're not gunna score 4 goals in the last 5 minutes and they knew that...

Crosby's the best pure goal scorer they have... why wouldn't they have him take the shot? it's just like basketball, if a technical is called, you put your best free-throw shooter on the line not the guy who got punched in the face to draw the foul... Crosby's been lights out in penalty shots and shoot-outs this year, no reason to not have him take the shot

Crosby just learned how to find the net this year, haha. He is certainly not the best shooter on the team. Not to mention he's a little *****.

Nabokov needed to get pulled for the beginning of the period. It was obvious that he wasn't performing, so by keeping him in they just secured similar momentum for the rest of the period (and game).

I unfortunately didn't get to watch the game, but I was surprised to see that Canada held the Russians to 3. I expected Canada to win, but I also expected Russia to score 6 or 7 goals. I think if USA and Canada meet again in the finals it'll be another great game. If either team falls apart and loses in the semifinals, I think the gold medal game will be lopsided.

I dunno, Slovak has been playing pretty well this entire tournament and so has finland...

I actually predicted that finland was going to be in the medals before anyone even played a game.

Nash is a VERY good player, and with a 4-0 lead on Germany, I find this unacceptable. Its like a slap in the face to Nash.

And on a side note, Womens bobsledding team took Gold and Silver...I watched that the other night to, some interesting races going on there. Its funny how little things like that can get your heart racing when you are watching the time at the bottom of the screen....

Nash is an amazing player, the company my parents work for have season tickets to the Bluejackets so I get to watch him play all the time... but with all of the scoring talent on team Canada, Nash is almost a role player... and he's great at it... He's been one of my favorite players to watch in the olympics... but I'm sure he didn't mind, to say it was a slap in the face to Nash is almost an insult to Nash and team Canada... You do what's best for the team, and regardless of the score, you have your best shooter take the penalty shot... maybe if it wasn't an elimination game in the biggest tournament in hockey and you're up 4 goals Nash takes the shot, but not this situation...

I disagree with some of this....Yes, you do what is best for the team...but this isnt pittsburgh where you are limited with talent. And while people want to argue that crosby is the "best player" on team canada, he sure hasn't appeared that way in this tournament...and by that I mean that he hasn't stood out more then any other player on Team Canada.

I dont care that people think he is the best, IMO he has not played to that role in this tournament...I would say for starters that both Iginla and getzlaf have had a much better tournament then what crosby has... I just dont think he deserved to take that penalty shot.

Now my stance may of changed on that if Crosby was really making a HUGE difference for us in this tournament and really standing out...but he is not.

yea, Crosby definitely hasn't shined in the Olympics by any means, but I still bet that if you asked an opposing coach/team/goalie who they'd least like to have take a penalty shot against them it'd be Crosby... best player, no, best pure goal scorer, yes... imo anyway... lol

but enough of that... this is the only place I can talk about hockey b/c all of my friends hate hockey...

any predictions for the rest of the tourney... men's that is... and let's hear some scores, bc we all know by now who we're picking lol
