  • Game On part 2

Ok guys just to keep you updated.

Since I started 6 weeks ago and as of this week I've gone from 237lbs down to 213lbs. I am soft all over, especially on my stomach.

My waistline went from 36" down to 31". I'm only 4" away from where I used to be. My problem is I still have some fat around my lower back, side waist, and lower ab. My definition is starting to show, but I'm still way off.

My calves went from 18" down to 17"

My thighs went from 34" down to 32". Yes, my thighs are huge.

My chest went from 49" down to 47"

My Bicep from 19 7/8" down to 19 1/2". Thank god that it's still big.

My Forearm from 15 1/2" down to 15".

This week I had to cut back on my intensity by cutting the volume of my training down. But I'm still doing 30mins. moderate aerobics everyday.

    The reason:

Last week I almost called 911. After my workout and I was driving on the fwy I almost passed out. My body hit the wall because of my low calories and carb. I was tingling all over the place. I was having a nasty vertigo (spinning sensation).

I had to pull myself to the side of the fwy 4x that day. I had to get out of my car and breathe. I was lucky that I had a diet bar with me and munched on that till my body returned to normal. I was lucky too that 2 tow truck drivers pulled over to check on me. I told them that my body was low on sugar. They waited around till I was OK and OK to drive.

6 weeks down and 6 more weeks to go, well 5 weeks after this weekend. But it's looking pretty good. Hopefully I will lose 15-20lbs more of fat.

I decided to take the pics on the day of the contest. I'm still kinda smooth and flabby.

I just want to be define, not rip, because I know that's not possible to get rip in 12 weeks. Big and define will do nicely. I don't what to look riducules once I put on that thong. LOL

Thanks guys. Sometimes I have no choice but to over do it. That's the difference between losing weight just for the sake of losing fat and losing weight Pre-contest preparation. There's so much more involve.

Vertigo SUCKS balls hard. I think the reason why I may get it myself is due to diet, but ive been watching what I eat a little more, and its helping. Its hard to have such a problem when you're on a ladder or scaffold.

I still need to talk to you about a few things, PM me.

Yeah, Vertigo is horrible and scarry. It can hit you out of nowhere.

We can talk here if you like. Others might want to learn or know. If it's too personal then let me know and we'll do it by PM

To be honest, I have to learn to eat better, I just don't know what to buy. Working out has never been an issue for me, but what I eat has always determined my weight. Im pushing 230 lbs, which I don't mind, but its not muscle. I don't want to lean out persay, but instead try to find a way to effectively turn the fat weight into muscle weight. If I were to be in the 220 lbs range with muscle, I would be happy, but I think its more my diet that dictates it. I think once I get my diet down, I can focus on doing more exercising, but I just don't know what to eat, where to get it, what to do....

So what are you eating now? What's on your grocery list?

                    How do you train?

It's hard to perscribe a diet plan, because you are more likely give up on it. I'm not saying this of you only, but it happens to others and to me too. Believe it or not, most really do know what's good and healthy to eat and what's bad. Most of this can be do to lifestyle preference, others for convience, others for taste, and others for emotional reason.

What you can do is to gradually introduce healthy. Like for example if you're going to eat pizza, eat fruits along with it. Instead of drinking soda, start drinking cranberry juice and water. Instead of drinking coffee, start drinking herbal tea. Instead of eating hamburger, start eating chicken.

This gradual introduction will eventurally trickle down to eating mostly healthy food. Next thing you know you are eating fish, grilled chicken, rice, vegetables, fruits, and grains.

So I think gradual introduction so this way your body will not be shock and you will have less craving for the bad foods in the long run. Ofcourse it's ok to have a couple of cheat day (where you eat whatever you want) during the week. This may be for social reason such as gathering or to taste something new and different. But 95% of the time you should be eating healthy.

This is what I call a good example of a balance diet that does not leave you starving:

                    Breakfast
                    1. 1 cup of whole grain cereal with 1 cup of skim milk or 2 whole grain bread with 3 egg white
                    2. Banana
                    3. Herbal Tea

                    Snack
                    1. Lowfat Yogurt mixed with sprinkled crushed nuts

                    Lunch
                    1. 1 cup of rice or 1 cup of beans or 1 large Potato (with 0% fat/cholesterol butter)
                    2. 5-6oz. of Fish, Chicken, or steak (grilled, baked, or cooked in Olive Oil)
                    3. 1 cup of Cranberry Juice

                    Snack
                    1. Protein Meal Bar
                    2. 1 fruit

                    Dinner
                    1. 6oz. of steamed Mix Vegetable (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Zucchini)
                    2. Medium size Salad (lettuce, Cucumber, Spinach, Carrots, Cabbage) with light dressing
                    3. 5-6oz. of Fish, Chicken, or steak (grilled, baked, or cooked in Olive Oil)

Be sure to drink 1 1/2 gallon of water a day. You'll pee alot in the beginning, but soon your body will get used to it.

                      Re: Game On part 2

My grocery list contains alot of food that is either canned or boxed; things that tend not to spoil after a week or so. Now, honestly what you have on your list seems to be ok, its actually not too bad. I think the worst is the proportions, seem a little small, but I think I would learn to manage on it if I had to. Alot of the foods I eat are

                      White bread
                      Eggs
                      Boxed Mac and cheese
Lean cuts of beef (flank steak for example)
                      Roasts
                      canned veggies
                      sandwiches
                      pizza
                      Banana's (1 a day average)
                      Salmon

The thing I know is killing me the most is this country time lemonade I drink. Its loaded with sugar, and Im almost done with it. I have tea in my cupboard, I need to start brewing it more often. Its green tea decaf, and I don't use sugar or any other sweetener in my tea. I do also need to start drinking more cranberry juice, part of the reason being I am very prone to kidney stones.

I tend to also eat a LOT of pasta foods. Spaghetti, penne, alot. Most of the time when I go out and I don't order a 2 lb steak, its usually chicken parmesean.

Now a few other things I wanted to ask, what do you think about a George Forman grill? I use it on occaision on a few things like lean burgers, but when it comes to steak, I tend to pan sear them. Maybe I can throw them on the Foreman grill as well? Maybe I should stop using the Foreman grill? No clue. But this is a good start.

I will give myself credit, I tend to not drink soda anymore, its few and far between when I do. I also enjoy a salad on occaision, usually a romaine lettuce with a tablespoons worth of cesar dressing.

But, I also love cheese. I dont know what it is, but I could eat a block of colby cheese in one sitting. Can't stand not having cheese. Might also be something I need to watch

That's not a bad list actually. There's nothing wrong with eating cheese, just don't over do it. My wife loves cheese too. She could eat it all day, but it's not good for you. A right amount is. If you look at the RDA food chart you'll notice that dairy is 2nd to the top when it comes to portion or servings.

But in truth....It's basically the portions you have to watch out for. Americans got fat over the past few decades because portions have gotten bigger. When I was in Europe I got used to eating small portions of meal and I think my stomach got smaller. Upon my return to the States I went and ate at Denny's and I couldn't finish my food. I had to ask for a to-go-box. I've never done that.

                            Re: Game On part 2

Portions are what kill me too... When I started working out again I went on a diet that requires 6 meals a day, but its hard because I'm used to eating until I'm full (sometimes stuffed) but with this diet it's important to only eat until you're not hungry instead of eating until you're full...

a couple things I've discovered that I'll add here... Sodium intake is also something that you should monitor... high sodium usually leads to high BP which can affect your hormone levels

Managing portion size of a meal can be hard, but what can be easier is managing your proportions... make sure you get enough of protein, Complex Carbs and Fibrous carbs and good fats... most things I've found point to 40% Protein, 40% Carbs and 20% Good fats... getting enough fiber is the hardest part since fiber usually doesn't taste as good..

Also it's important to make sure you're getting enough good fats... your body needs a certain amount of fatty acids to function properly and if you don't eat enough of the good fats it can cause cravings for fatty foods... Flaxseed, olive, and fish oil are good sources of good fats but should be alternated in your diet... something you could try that isn't really as bad as it sounds is to mix 1 tbs with some parmesan cheese to make kind of a paste and spread it on saltines... eat this with two meals a day...

Diet is alot more important for maintaining weight than exercise, bc it's alot easier to cut more calories out of your diet than it is to burn calories from exercise...

Mega props Thor, those kinds of results that fast are not easy to accomplish... keep it up
