I went to a salvage yard today just to see what kind of small parts I might be able to find there. they didnt have much but I got a new dash pad for 50 bucks!!!!

they are easier to put in than they are to take out thats for sure.

dont pass up salvage yards. you may just save yourself a couple hundred bucks on parts.

I go to Pick a Part from time to time. But they are not cheap at all. I save more money ordering them from online salvage.

Junkyards are pretty good for finding used parts for a decent price or for a good turn-around profit. My favorites are the U-Pull-It types. Something about being able to go into the yard and pulling what you want makes the trip even better, along with the typically lower prices. That and it's always interesting to see what you can find, along with seeing the car you're pulling parts from.

we went to a salvage yard around here one time, and found a GMC jimmy that was partially wrecked, just messin around I got in, and turned on the radio and i was like sweet the battery is hooked up, so I turned the key, the thing fired right up, we ended up driving that around the junk yard trying to find what we were lookin for. It had no brakes, no windows, the two rear doors were missing, but it ran like a champ

We ended up doing the same with an old 80s Corolla we found in one of the newer yards. Thing wasn't wrecked or anything. Just opened the door and noticed the headlights came on when playing with the switches, so we started it up and drove it around the empty part of the yard. Tried to see how much they wanted for it, but they wouldn't sell it. They said it was just driven in.

Are center console lids hard to find at u-pull its? I broke my plastic clip in a fit of anger so it always flies open on left turns. Those things are expensive as hell brand new.. but that is for the whole lid. Still, it's not a price I would ever pay.
