  • It pays to speed..

Yesterday I got 65 bucks back from the city because they apparently had fines higher than the legal amount back in 2003-2006. I think it was in 2005 I got my first speeding ticket which cost me 100 bucks. So everyone that had a speeding ticket in Fargo within that time period got 65% back from what their ticket amount was.

Yeah... My "Prohibited Tire Noise" (accelerated around a corner at about 10mph and the tires squeaked over the cross-walk paint) ticket in '06 cost me about $1900 when all was said and done when I factored in ticket cost plus insurance increase. It does not pay to get any tickets.

haha yeah, this I know. I'm just saying that it was pretty nice to see 65 dollars come my way that I haven't had for the last 5 years. Obviously speeding doesn't pay, just happened to get some money when I'm short on cash. So in a sense it seems to me that I am getting paid for something I did, even though in the end I netted ($35).

I should've know better than to put a title like that. Knew I was going to get flammed for that. haha oh well, fair game

Lucky B. Not to mention I'm pretty sure a basic 10 over speeding ticket here is something like 350 bucks as of several years ago. My no front plate ticket was well over $100.

What?!! :omg: Thats ridiculous! I was 15 over in a school zone (leaving my high school) and it was 100 bucks. I thought that was bad. And I was pulled over for no front plate, and all I got was a warning.

I just looked it up. I was thinking 20mph, which is $355. 15 over in a school zone is $209 as of 2007(plus a few points on your license), and the site said it was effective to 2008. Based on this, the "Prohibited Tire Noise" fell under careless driving. And I think the front plate was like $142. I got it dropped but I had to wait until traffic court was out and have the judge personally walk out to my car and check that the plate was currently on the car. They wouldn't accept the dated pictures I brought with me.

Here 20 mph & under is around $120 for traffic school and 21+ is a trip to jail and overnight stay for criminal speeding, add court costs looking at around $1000 with fines.
