an MRI charge is usually about $2500, you're right, but about $500 of that goes to the radiologist usually... but that being said, I didn't say that this was the sole cause of the increase, and pointed that out in my post, I just said it contributed...

and you're correct that it would take about a year at 2 a day to recoop the cost of the machine, but that means that they are running that machine at no profit for that time period... and if they have that machine for longer than 2 years, or even less it's obselete...

Very good point. And deff justified. But as you see in my examples, none applied to this technology. It doesnt cost $200 for a towel $600 for a temporary bandage. It doesnt cost $95 for me to borrow a gown they made me wear while they dont help me.

yea, but they recoup their losses anywhere they can... if you can't afford it, the move on to the next person... it's unfair and it needs fixed... the best way to do that is to make insurance affordable not "free"

and how about this... you come in and you're not a legal citizen, and can't pay: you get treated and then deported...

I hope they pass something becuase I can't even have heart surgery becuase they say its not FDA approved and is experimental , just so these insurance Co. don't have to pay for a 200,000 surgery and reovery and I can't have my back surgery which is about 200,000 with recovery until my heart is fixed, so bascily they can get away with not doing any surgeries. But I hope my new insurance will be able to approve the surgeries. If not I'm screwed. My meds alone a month is about $1000 with no insurance, $100-$200 with insurance. So I hope they can do something more with Co- payments , surgeries and precriptions. If I was a illegal , a Dr. would have done the surgeries for free so he could make the news and be a hero.

the FDA is another gov't program that has become so over-regulating it's numbing...

something as simple and potentially life saving as aspirin would never make it through FDA regs if it were developed today...

Maybe you should look into Singapore now. A lot of Americans are going there for different type of heart surgeries. They also have one of the best surgeons there too.

what? they have no rights to be here otherwise. you do the paper work and you can come on over, otherwise get the hell out. my family (and how many millions of others?) had no problems doing it and they came from a broken down and beaten post war germany. so i dont want to hear about the stuggles of illegals and why the slip in. they dont know jack squat. it took nearly 2 years but they got here, never complained about it once, got here, learned to speak english and worked and paid their taxes like everyone else so that they could enjoy things like freedom and do as they please.

The thing that pisses me off the most is seeing these illegals with brand new trucks and cars and use their Access cards to get food and precriptions. I swear there were 3-4 famlies living in a new house with new trucks and didn't speak a word of english. I saw them when I applied for Access(I know spelled wrong) at DES after my stroke and would see them at the same Walgreens and at Safeway.

Obama has pushed for the formation of a committee for immigration reform... and surprise, surprise... McCain and Graham are on board for an amnesty bill... They want to make everyone who's currently here illegally a citizen...

I'm with Bibber, my grandparents came here legally years ago, taught themselves English. and they came from Holland, so if they can learn English after speaking Dutch then you can learn English after speaking Spanish... we need to let people here who want to be here bc they love the U.S. and will improve our country... not people who come here for all the freebies, but want to keep their own home country's culture/language... and this isn't my "racist" opinion of what they want, this is the view of "La Raza" which speaks on behalf of latino immigrants and has been lobbying for amnesty for years...

California somehow got 7 people on this committee, not sure how, but it will be an uphill battle to keep this from happening... if a bill ever makes it out of committee, the fate of that bill will probably be the same as the healthcare: overwhelming opposition by the public, but they'll find a way to push it through, especially with some republicans on board...

This is especially appalling considering the violence that is occurring right now in Juarez... If that drug-funded militia were to organize, it could easily topple the Mexican gov't...

If the amnesty bill gets passed, not only will a huge injustice be done to law abiding, America-loving, English speaking immigrants, but another huge drain will be placed on our taxpayers by adding to the dependant class... This will only further the drain on our healthcare system pushing us closer to a single-payer socialist system...

Not to mention, if 16,000 illegals become legal citizens, that will be 16,000 more Obama voters, which just further hinders any chance of repeal of the healthcare bill and no chance of real reform...

I would rather fix the legal citzens here in the U.S. first rather than someone who just crossed the border and now has free housing, food stamps, bus tickets and medical, just my opinion. I'm for help the millions of people here and get them not starving and off the streets, inmates that have no homes will be released an within 24 hours commit a crime so they have 3 hots and a cot and medical rather than starve on the streets. Seen that about 100X's or more. While working 7 years in AZDOC.

Good point, but most of the time healthcare is a time sensitive issue. You can't have 7 illegals in a hospital, then refuse to see them until you've seen 10 legal citizens that haven't even walked into the door of the hospital. Doesnt work that way. Not like you can gather up illegals and at the end of the month, give a few of them healthcare. Its a here and now issue. They know it, we know it, they take advantage of it. But the PR would be worse if we were to just let illegals die.

well thank god I had insurance lol. It's affordable too. Insurane or not, there is no help. But i'm sure the company will dump our awesome insurance company as soon as they can dump us on the government.

Deported?! Not here. They get food stamps, homes, a load of money for all the damned kids they have, free healthcare and don't pay a bit of taxes. I have seen this personally and know at least a couple of illigals personally.
