man i wish i had 6000 for my first car i had 1400 bucks but for that much just look aroung u cand deff find a very nice car for that much money

Nissian Altima. I've owned two now and they last forever. My old one a 1995 is still running with over 230,000 miles on it. My youngest son has it now.
Very dependable and good on gas with good power for a 4 cyl.

You can pick up a nice 97-03 style grand prix for that. They are tanks with the 3.8s and only come with auto trannies. You could even find a gtp (stock s/c'd) for that price range.

Seriously go for a Volvo 850. I know loads of people that have had them for years without any issues. The interior is more luxurious and comfortable than CURRENT GM cars. They are cheap as hell, and you can find them in amazing condition.

Buick lesabre...you can get them mint for $4000 from an old person, has a 3.8 and gets 30mpg on the highway.

I drove my moms for 4 months it was great.

my mom's old one had about 300,000 miles on it before my aunt caught it on fire.

if he 16 tho he does not want a volvo, i still say monte carlo SS with a 3800, good looking car, FWD and cheap

I'd find the best possible car for $2k, and save the other $4k for when he has some seat time. $6k, gtp, impala, monte carlo, plenty of all those around.

Id buy an early accord or civic and buy a low mileage motor and tranny for it then swap it in and invest the rest of the money somewhere else.:p
