What Car to Buy for a 16 year old for under $6,000?
With that $6k you could either buy something like an fbody and expect to spend money on repairs. Buy a $3k car and use the rest on repairs. Or, you could spend a bit more and get something reliable. I seriously stand by my earlier suggestion of a Volvo. The 90's ones sell for ~3-4k and will run for more than 300k miles. Repairs are more expensive than they would be on an American car, but you will have less of them. You can also find a car from an enthusiast that took great care of it. I have recently been on Volvo forums for my S60, and some of those guys are nuts about their cars.

Re: What Car to Buy for a 16 year old for under $6,000?
I would not recommend an F-body for a 16 year old. Yes I'm only 21 but I remember very clearly in high school all the stupid **** we did with our cars, and none of us were driving anything remotely sporty. In high school anything with 4 wheels that ran was hot stuff. Get him something for maybe half that price you were thinking of, get him some experience behind the wheel, and then go from there. Remember, at 16 you have virtually no driving experience. I really don't wanna see this thread bumped in a month with pics of a totaled 3rd gen lol

i got my camaro when i was 16...im 17 now. never had a speeding ticket or been pulled over. if he wants an f-body and he's responsible let him have one.

There's a big difference between not doing stupid **** and not getting caught =P

I vote this also. I've had 5 Grand Prixs in the past. Love 'em.
IIRC, the 97-98 GTP was actually some kind of option package on top of the GT model.. so insurance-wise it was a GT, not a GTP. This was awhile ago, so I dunno if they've caught onto that yet or not.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
