  • Just installed my MTI clear lid - photos inside.

Been combing all over the internet and couldn't find a whisper lid that fit a 3800 (L36) so I took the plunge and bought a LS1 lid.

I bought a MTI lid and the issue wasn't connecting the throttle body to the lid; my issue was the overall look of the lid & hose.

After about a week or debate (couplers, air ducts, fabrication, etc), the cheapest and most decent looking solution was a car heater hose duct I found online. I also primed and painted my clamps flat black to give it a overall stock look.

I'm really happy with the results and love the overall look. The MTI clear lid also gave my car a bit more umph. I'm not sure if it's in my head but the car shifts at a slightly higher RPM, the car does sound a lot better and it feels a pinch quicker. I gave my sensors a good cleaning too so that might be it as well.

    Here are some pictures.

Details of where you ordered that? Part number? Congratulations, you just killed the V6 lid market!

not really, a v6 lid would still be better performance wise as he had to use the corrigated tubing and make bends. A straight smooth shot from a v6 lid is going to outperform it. Clear lids do look sharp though under hoods. We had a clear mti one on my brothers powerdyned bird back in the day.

Who would wanna use a v6 style lid, when that looks damned good?

                    Thanks for the compliment.

                    I used the following parts.
+ MTI clear lid (bought on LS1tech.com from a forum member)
                    + 4" duct hose from NostalgicAirParts.com (I needed less than a foot)
+ Home Depot 4" clamps that I primed and painted
+ Grommet from Home Depot to install air sensor on lid.

                    Painted clamps

This is the issue I ran into.

Me, That set up looks ok, but I still think the have that bend looks kinda crappy still compared to a true v6 lid.
