First is the silver insert in the shift knob for the GTO. I removed the insert and spray painted it with Krylon's Brushed Nickel Metallic. I hand painted the shift patterns, then clearcoated:
Next was an extra radiator cover that was all flat black and has been sitting in my garage. I custom painted it with quicksilver metallic, clearcoated, then applied the 2 factory decals and 1 (non-factory) serpentine belt decal.
Finally, I wanted to try out the new Thermochromic (color-changing) Powder that I purchased. The powder is charcoal black, and you mix it with a clear basecoat. After drying, it turns transparent when you apply any type of heat. If you use a transparent color ~over top of the black powder mix~, you can get a whole different effect. I'm going to try flames next, but I just wanted to see how well it worked first. In the video, I used a copper colored powder mixed with clearcoat, and lightly applied it over the thermochromic basecoat.
The phone cover should be dry enough to test out today since I've had it in front of a small heat lamp for a few hours overnight. The clearcoat was still in the drying phase when I did this video, and I didn't want to put any type of medium-to-heavy pressure on it.
Also, I'm all stuffed-up as I'm talking in the video because of my damn allergies!
