the worst morning of my life happened yesterday:
headed to my last round executive interview yesterday morning and decided to take the 'maro instead of the jeep since it was nice out. got two blocks from my place (still in my neighborhood) and approached a stopsign, within about 200 feet. as i'm slowing, a dumb@ss highschool girl comes haulin around the turn of the intersection i'm coming up to, and she's completely out of control and headed straight at me in her '96 dodge avenger. i had about only 50 feet of reaction time to hit my brakes and cut as hard right as i can towards the shoulder of the street and she never even corrected her car (i'm assuming she had to be texting or on her phone), and she plows right into the camaro head on.
neither of us were injured, but this was highly unnecessary and there were NO other cars on the road, it was clear and sunny, and my car is loud and flashy, so any semi-attentive driver would have seen me right there. worst part is, this was 20 minutes before my final executive interview which will determine if i get the job, so of course i had to go in very shaken up and pissed off.
amazingly, the girl had the nerve to try and tell me it was my fault and i ran into her --- so i had my words with her and had her in tears within about 15 seconds, and shortly police showed and wrote her a ticket on the spot. she lives half a block away from me.
pics will be up later today, it hurts my heart to see her in this shape as much as i baby her.
damage:
- front bumper, driver quarter panel, and wheel well destroyed
- headlight, corner, fog light, and hid's all shattered
- front driver z06 rim shattered (literally broke the rim)
- brand new s/d rotor and ceramic pads destroyed (pieces of my brake pad flew out onto the street)
- heavy scratches from driver door to taillight
- hood knocked out of alignment
- driver tire punctured
engine and suspension appear to still be functioning correctly, my mechanic has faith she will survive.
