  • I'm at that point..

Hail is a *****, and a very cold hearted ***** at that. Had 6 inches of rain, golfball sized hail (literally my town ONLY) and 65mph winds. Only panels that are not damaged are the plastic ones, and those were previously mangled by a F-250 who's driver was not even looking when reversing.:rant:

    94 3.4 a4.

Should I just drive her till she dies and get a v8? I absolutely love 4th gens, I know its the car I want to drive. But I'm paying for tools, and I seem to have an addiction to Snap-On.

    What would you guys do?

Personally I'd save for a V8. I don't think a '94 3.4 is worth the effort to get fixed up if the damage is all over and not focused on any one panel. Also it's a buyer's market right now, and if you're have to ask whether your car is worth getting fixed cosmetically then the answer is probably no. You don't seem to be in love with it too much.

Heywood- Your right, I'm not inlove with my current car, but I am in love with the 'idea' of it. If that makes any sense.

Fondle- Insurance won't total it, so I'm not going to try. It will be my beater though, since it has rocker panel rust and underbody rust. (I HATE SALT).

i think he's saying make a claim for the damage (which won't total it of course), don't use the money to fix her up, and save it for a v8 while you beat around in the 3.4. if they did total it, they take the car and you'd have to buy it back.

Well, comrade, hail is a *****. We had softball size hail consistently for 2 storms on 2 different days. Insurance didnt hold back on totaling cars. My friends brand new Civic got totaled along with his family's 2010 Suburban. His house has 63 holes punched in the roof straight to the floor inside the house, and their workshop adjacent to the house (metal building) looks like Swiss cheese and is being rebuilt. We feel ya down here.

I ate a bowl of fail this morning.

Drive it as is, keep it clean, enjoy it. Forget about the body damage.

exactly, i have plenty of friends who have gotten 2500$+ for hail damage from insurance and never got it fixed and just pocketed the money

                  Re: I'm at that point..

                  I'll check that out.

Meanwhile, my boss has a 73' z28 and 71' RS camaro. 71 is a parts car, and the 73 is his builder. Now, I've ran it by him a few times, but I'm going to push harder soon. But after he has his parts (bumper, trim, little misc stuff) I'm going to see what he wants for the 71. Becuase, I think it'd make a sweeeeeeet hotrod, and I love restoring old cars, and with some new learned skills, I believe I can really build a sweet autoX '71 RS.

So I have my v8 car insight, and I have to run the shop for 5 days by myself so that should improve standings between him and I.

Also, I'm really not upset about the damage, its A: just a beat up car B: It still drives. And C: I work full time in the field I love, so rebuilding another car is actually more desirable then getting a nice shiny new one.

A local car dealership has 450+ damaged cars for sale! GM, Chrysler dealership, Shottenkirk, Mt. Pleasant if anyones interested lol. They seemed rather enthusiastic about the insurance guys coming in too.
