eh sure power is great but I don't have the time or money to do a swap. Besides if I were to put that money into something it would be into my music :) but that's just me. I figure after the paint job my car is pretty damn nice :)
It's like being back at the Z28 messageboard 10 years ago. Someone would always drop by and ask the same question.
I would rather buy a car with a V8 than do a swap. Besides, there's a couple of LS1 fbodies that are selling for less than 4k in my area.
3800's are great engine and they last longer than the LS engines. Plus, it's an iron block compare to an aluminum block. Pretty ideal for a turbo, SC or nitrous. Build it correctly with forged parts and it will do.
I was watching a video of a Fiero with a turbo GTP beat the crap out of a turbo LS1 Fiero. For sure I thought that V6 Fiero was going to get rape, but I was wrong. L67 3800 are awesome.
If I do go V8 I would go with a carb engine. Much easier to work with.
I thought this was a V6 website not a swap a V8 into your V6 car website?
1500.00 if the price if you can find everything that you need and it all works and that everything goes right when you do the swap. I think that everyone will agree that when working on your car most of the time $hit never goes the way its suppose to go.
I would rather put a turbo on my V6 then drop a 5.3 in my car! Those 5.3's came out of trucks with over 90,000 miles and alot of them were probably beat to heel from towing and offroading. I would rather stick with my motor in which I know what is wrong or right with it then put a high mile Truck engine in my car. Thats just me.

More than a handful of those high mile truck engines have gone 9's and 10's!
I have over 150k miles on my LS1 and went mid 11's last night.
Who would have thought people wanted to discuss hotrodding on a car website!?!?! WTF!
So you mean to tell me that for 500.00 you have a 10 second motor? Truth is any motor is capable of running 10's. Just depends on how much money you want to spend on it!
The real question is would you want to spend 1500.00 dollars on a 5.3 to maybe run a 13 if the motor is still in decent shape or get a turbo kit and run the same if not much better with a motor that you have driven around for X amount of miles?
I like discussing hotrodding but since this is a V6 website I like seeing people hotrodding V6 f-bodies with V6's in them! If I wanted to read threads about 11 second LS1's I would go on LS1tech.
I have alittle but more into mine and I made a new 350Z look sad from off the line, and I never saw him again. Thats what he gets for reving at a red light at 2am in the morning with no other cars around, as for the older camaros and mustangs same thing they are slow unless they are modded then it gets good. I had a older 85-87 white mustang that had a modded V8 and it also weighed about same as mine and we would be dead even about every race. He lived about 2 blocks down from me so we would see each other on the street and race about everytime if the traffic was right.

Coming from a guy who owns a Firehawk and WS6 that's pretty well said.
Besides, you know you are going to spend more than 1500 on just about any swap. There are parts you would need to get plus tune ups. Plus you want to go 9 or 10 sec. is going to cost you more. Besides, going high 10 sec. on a stock LS1 is pushing it.
I said I can usually handle them no problem:spank:
im making it a known fact that 3.8s can handle them even in close to stock form. a 305 is a boat anchor and well im sure even the 3.4, 3.1 and 2.8 guys can have their way or even stay with them. the sn95s r a joke.

No burn, I said complete. After buying a PCM - Wire harness and everything needed to make the engine run at least your $500 quote is blown out of the water.
