who the hell says i dont? have i said once that i dont? dont go trying to put words in my mouth. im just tired of you and your 4 page soap box standing, pissing and moaning over why some of us moved (or plan to move) on to bigger things and you want to act as if you didnt do the same damn thing for years. but you want to sit on your perpetual high horse and act as if we turned our backs on the v6 community by doing so and youre some lone warrior of v6 support.
if i didnt like the v6 why in gods name would i have volunteered to be a moderator here for the past 4 years or even still be here 5 years after i traded mine in? or wasted countless hours helping new guys get their ducks in a row modding? or time ive invested talking v6 guys ive met around here locally and pulling them in here and helping them anyway i can to improve on their cars? dont you ever doubt my support for the v6 community, ive been banned from a **** load of sites over arguments about what they can and cant do.
Dude LT1's are just slow.. Thats all.

Nothing at all wrong with praising the 3800. It's always served me well.
So you ran a 12.11 @ 113 in your V6 with a bone stock motor and nitrous? Thats what your profile says. If thats the case then man your car would have been sick with Heads and cam on the jug.

Congrats. You really dont see 11 or 10 second LS1 cars around. Oh wait. There pretty much everywhere. I was going to say you had something special but forgot that there are 10's of 1000's of other LS1/LT1 cars that run the same as you.
That's 10's of thousands of LS1/LT1 cars that'll blow the hoods off 99% of v6 cars. I know I will probably get **** for this but someone had to say it... Common sense says that if you're looking for the best numbers, best sound, with lowest cost, an LSX is the way to go hands down. If you don't care how much it cost and want to take on a real project, say a 9 second v6, than that's your own money pit and no one is going to stop you. But if you want a really fast car, it's best to start with something fast and make it faster. Bring on the pain!

Then next season comes racing NHRA Super Stock. I'm going legit. Why, just cause I can. However, NONE of this can be done in a V6, thus necessitating my conversion. I'm still here solving v6 problems, offering my 15+ years of advice, just to help people out.
.
AHHHH... YOUR WRONG ON THAT!!!
There are V6 engines racing n the NHRA and are beating the V8's in their game.
Here are some of them:
**Introduced in 2002 the NHRA Celica is Toyota's venture into drag racing. ... Campaigning in the Goody's Nascar Series the Celica is a DOHC V6 racing ...7.92 et winner
**Douglas County, NV & UC Davis, CA. Drives: 98 Chevy C1500 4.3 V6...7.53 et winner
**Powered by a TRD, U.S.A., (Toyota Racing Development) built 3.5 liter V6, ... Sport Compact series drag racing vehicle to top 200 mph in NHRA competition.
**NHRA will race four cars . ... Audi S2 Coupe VS 1200hp Nissan 300ZX V6 1/4mile at 200mph class
**Bob Kaiser, who won the NHRA Comp Eliminator national championship in 1989 with a 3.8 V6-powered Camaro.
**Harry Dolittle, won Stock Pro NHRA stock elimination in a 3.8 - V6 power Firebird.
So can you make a V6 fast. HELL YEAH. Just that not too many people get into it because there's a V8 simple as that. But if a Honda Civic with a B18 4 cyl. engine running 30psi of Turbo can do 8.5 in a 1/4 mile and win the NHRA and beating a lot of V8's with it then I don't see any reason why a built 3.8 V6 running 20psi can't do that.
Didn't Tim King already did that with his Firebird V6? 23psi and he did 8.9 at the track. But with his mph et. he could've done a high 7 sec. run.
--------------------------
Now you're probably going to say. It's going to cost you more to build up a V6 than a V8. Then I'll say. I don't think so. You said it already that you plan on continuing to build your V8 up. So right there and then it's going to cost you far more than what you said. Plus how much did it cost you with to have that salvage TA that you had hanging around?
V6 engine is far cheaper than V8 and forged parts for it is cheaper too because there's 2 less cylinders.
But this is a V6 site and like 1998silverbird said, I want to see us V6'ers achieve this. If I want to see fast V8's I would go to a V8 site.
So this thread is pointless. Reminds of Z28 messageboard when you get those people with V8 going to the V6 site making the same comment.
ooooooooooh good comeback . guess if you cant argue a point its better to just change the subject then isnt it? maybe you didnt notice i said im swapping to a ls based motor you tard.
here ill quote it for you so that you can see it, dont want you to get confused or start crying about that too
im working on it. do i get bonus penis inches for going from a v8 to another though? LOL
and thor tim could have but i dont think he ever worked the kinks out of tuning the 4 link before he decided to part it out. that car was a bit scary to see in person lol
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
just saw this thread, heres what i want to do within the next few years if i have the $$
-swap in a LS1 or 5.3L
-Buy a Mustang GT
-figure out some mad expensive way to turbo or supercharge my car haha

There comes a point when the costs of building up a sickening V8 are going to be almost identical to building a very fast V6, and have even similar times. If you're going to 12-11 sec mark, a V8 is undeniably going to be cheaper. If you're looking to get into the low 9's to high 7's, the costs are almost going to be the same between both platforms. The only difference in that scenario is that the V6 is at a higher risk of failure.
Either way, I don't see the issue. The question was why haven't there been more swaps, and its a question Id like to know to. I wouldn't mind doing the swap myself, but not with this car. This car I have now has plans, and its with the V6. I love the V6, always have, its damn near bulletproof, very little problems with it from factory. It can handle insane amounts of boost, nitrous, and still be a good DD, or you can do what King did and pull an 8.9 out of your *** and STILL have room for improvement. Its really up to you.

Because I just did a full rebuild/refresh on the car from the engine, trans and suspension. I wanted to learn how to work on the internals of the engine and decided to go with what I had been familiar with. The LSx world is something I'm not accustomed to just yet.

This is the best post so far, totally agree on the costs and a bulletproof engine, once built.

I'd much rather do an LLT swap later on :)
I would SERIOUSLY like to see more of your build on this site. Your car has come together very nicely, and its good to see one or two major projects still in the works, even after this many years.
EDIT: Anything that just said Trans-X was deleted, stick to the topic.

My V6 is reliable.
The insurance is cheaper.
Maintenance is cheaper.
Gas is still expensive ($3.20/gallon and it keeps going higher).
And I have no mechanical abilities of my own and no greasemonkey boyfriend, brother, or dad.
