No burn, I said complete. After buying a PCM - Wire harness and everything needed to make the engine run at least your $500 quote is blown out of the water.
By what? $100-$200 dollars, if that? I don't think blown out of the water is what I was looking for, and there is nothing in those posts she showed you that says the PCM, harnass or accessories aren't already included in the price.

Coming from a guy who owns a Firehawk and WS6 that's pretty well said.
Besides, you know you are going to spend more than 1500 on just about any swap. There are parts you would need to get plus tune ups. Plus you want to go 9 or 10 sec. is going to cost you more. Besides, going high 10 sec. on a stock LS1 is pushing it.
Not once did I say you could go 9's for 1500. I said 5.3's are capable of running the number. It was done with a stock bottom end and a turbo. I have relatively little into my car financially, and it will be mid 10's before the end of the season.

I have built a V6 and have made some good power with it on a stock tune. I know what the 3.8's can do and if I had to do it all over again I would build it the same except Turbo cam and Low Comp pistons. I went with a N20 cam and Higher comp pistons on mine. I know for a fact that I still wouldnt do a LS1 swap in the car.
I have a LS1 and LT1 now but when I am on this site I like to see V6 discussions. I dont come on FirebirdV6.com to see what a LS1 swapped firebird runs I come on here to see what everyone is doing with there V6's and if people have questions about them I might be able to help! I was just supprised that there was a post about why everyone hasnt gotten rid of there V6's yet and put a LSX motor in there cars! To me that defeats the purpose of having a V6 firebird website. Whenever I meet a person who has a 4th gen V6 I ask them if they plan on building the motor? Not if they plan on swapping a LS1 in it!
Going 10 seconds on a High Mile stock LS1 is really pushing it!

No but you said "That there are some of those High mile truck engines running 9's." Those high mile truck engines are 500.00. To me a High mile truck engine is stock bottom end.

So basically for 700.00 you can have a 5.3 in your car running is what you are saying right? I think that number is a little off.

Congrats. You really dont see 11 or 10 second LS1 cars around. Oh wait. There pretty much everywere. I was going to say you had something special but forgot that there are 10's of 1000's of other LS1/LT1 cars that run the same as you.

considering nobody is doing jack **** on this site anymore to "push the v6 community forward" does it really even matter? you have us older guys who moved on (a few that still own their v6), a few early 20's guys/gals doing a few mods and then a bunch of kids who dont have a clue what theyre doing and rarely listen to reason from those of us who know a thing or 2.
the saddest part about this all is with the exception of the pissing and moaning from some, this might be the most informative thread on this site in a week. its a car site, we talk about cars. maybe when someone gets off their *** and does something impressive the convo would swing back to v6s, but as it is, there aint **** going on here so there's nothing to talk about regarding a v6 fbody that we dont already know about.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
I have both a v6 and ls1 camaros. Obviously the LS1 is a lot faster, but I know the 3800 can hold down some power. I saw a 3.8 firebird run 9's. That would make my LS1 look petty. I think what some people, including Bird_of_prey are trying to get at, is that with all the money it takes to make a v6 fast, you could have started with something fast and kept the extra money, because it takes a lot more to make the v6 'fast'. Sure this is a v6 board, but it is also the lounge. People can talk about whatever they want. I have learned a lot from this board, so I try to drop in often. Seems though it is always a 'my **** is bigger than yours' contest. Can't we all just get along? :)

Damn. I guess I am just old school. I still love the 3.8 motor but apparently alot of people don't. My bad. Instead of modding your V6 you should do a V8 swap and be done with it. Thats what everyone is into now so I guess I should get with it also!

I still own a V6 f-body. I moved on from my 3.8 but it was because I didnt build the tranny and rear end and got sick of them breaking. Wasnt because I moved on to bigger or better things, just different.
The problem with the new kids who are trying to learn about the V6's but dont listen. Why would they when the people who are giving them reasons to do mods to there car dont even have a V6 anymore or swapped a V8 in there car? If I was brand new on the board and saw a post From a old school guy asking why hasnt everyone dropped a V8 in there car yet thenI wouldnt want to mod my car and just go right to a V8 instead. I am not saying that is right or wrong but for being a V6 entheusiast ( spell check) like I am, it hurts the community.
I would much rather see people putting a turbo on there V6 then people dropping an LS1 in there car. I bet alot of the V8 guys on here would say " why waist your money on the V6 and not just do a LS1"? I bought my 98 V6 without any reason to mod it. Then I joined Coastal V6 in Va Beach and met Stephan (Virus) and saw his Procharged 3.8. I caught the mod bug and the rest was history.
Alot of you people have moved on and probably laugh at me for praising the 3.8's as all you do is want people to rip them out and drop a truck motor in there cars. I for the other hand remember were I started from and that is why I still rock my SLOW-V6 plates on my WS6. It keeps me from being that cocky LS1 guy.
building up a 3.8 can be just as cheap...you just need to plan everything properly...I think there are too many guys who just try and jump into a generic build. "I want a cam, this worked for that guy, lets do that"...they half *** what needs to be done because they are tight on budget (Im guilty of this to sometimes)
Fact of the matter is, there is guys with the 3.8 running low 12's without a ton of money into the motor...look at LNorton on FTv6...cam only running 12.3. I gurantee you he's spent less money on his setup then what it will cost you to do that swap and make a 13 second car at best.
I would love to run the cam he does...and now that I got manley valves, I may just look further into running that cam...
....I havent done much reading into the swap, but would you not need a different transmission as well, I dont believe our bellhousing bolts up to the v8 motors?

Come on, your not stupid wes,... you know as well as any of us that junk yard motors dont come with all that, and that you can get it all for $100-$200.
Ive been looking for a 5.3 for my wrangler for awhile now, and have seen MANY 5.3 swaps done on another forum. Much more expensive than it sounds then to just go buy a motor for $500 and throw it in.
Belts, Radiators and hoses, electrical crap, changing oil pans (5.3 comes with a much deeper oil pan and wont work on f-bodys, or jeeps in my case for clearance issues... plus all the misc crap you have to buy.
I have seen plenty of junkyard motors come with the harnass, PCM, and accessories. Just ASK for it.
This swap is not some $3000 swap as you're suggesting. Its FAR cheaper than swapping and LSx engine, much more abundant in supply, and produces similar numbers.
